Tuesday's volleyball: Lady Canes defeat 4th-ranked Blessed Trinity, and Cass collects first region win

The 10th-ranked Cartersville High volleyball team earned two wins Tuesday night at the Storm Center, including a non-region win over a Top Five-ranked opponent.
Cartersville won a Region 7-4A match in straight sets over Cedartown 25-8 and 25-8 but also defeated 4th-ranked Blessed Trinity 25-17 and 26-24.
Addison Marisko had six kills, four aces, and one block in the win over Cedartown. Holly Dufrene also had six kills. Riley Huff contributed three kills and two blocks. Aubree Barrett added ten assists and three digs.
Leaders in the win over Blessed Trinity included Marisko, with six kills and two blocks. Huff and Dufrene finished with four kills and two blocks. Riley Jarrett contributed five assists. Barrett produced nine assists and four digs.
In other action on Tuesday, Cass split home region matches with Dalton and Southeast Whitfield. The loss to the Catamounts was 16-25 and 8-25 before the Lady Colonels gained their first region win of the season over Southeast Whitfield 27-25, 26-28, and 15-7.
Adairsville lost its Region 7-AAA matches to Gilmer and Northwest Whitfield in Tunnel Hill. The Lady Tigers won the opening set with Gilmer 25-20 but dropped the final two, 21-25 and 9-15. The host, Lady Bruins, won their match with Adairsville 25-14 and 25-15.
Myka Colston and Cara Harp had four kills for Adairsville in their loss to Gilmer. Harp added seven assists. Payton Hartline also contributed three kills and one block. Ella Steward had three kills and three blocks. Alivia Wynn totaled nine assists, and Addie Pearson produced 26 digs.
Against Northwest Whitfield, Harp had three kills, four digs, and three assists. Steward finished with three kills, and Pearson added nine digs.
Woodland lost Region 7-4A matches Tuesday to Allatoona (3-25, 14-25) and Hiram (3-25, 7-25). Izzy Hazelwood had five kills for the Lady Cats. Bella King added three assists and two kills.
