Tuesday’s volleyball roundup: Lady Canes knock off No. 7 Calhoun

Cartersville volleyball earned a pair of Region 7-5A wins Tuesday night at The Storm Center knocking off 7th-ranked Calhoun 25-20, 25-20 and topping Woodland 25-14 and 25-12.


Ailee England had nine kills in the Cartersville victory over Calhoun. Addison Marisko finished with seven blocks. McKenzie Wilkie contributed 11 digs and Riley Jarrett had nine. Aubree Barrett totaled 14 assists and Sydney Seigler added four service aces.


Against Woodland, Marisko had 11 kills. England finished with six kills. Wilkie totaled 11 digs. Seigler served four aces and Barrett added 24 assists.


Cartersville improved to 17-9 overall and is now 2-0 in Region 7-5A.


Woodland also dropped a 25-11, 25-9 decision to Calhoun. The loss drops the Lady Cats to 5-16 on the season and 0-2 in region action.



CASS VOLLEYBALL DEFEATS HIRAM, FALLS TO NO. 6 DALTON

Hosting Region 7-5A matches Tuesday night, the Cass Lady Colonels dropped a 25-7, 25-13 decision to 6th-ranked Dalton but finished the night with a narrow 25-21, 29-27 victory over Hiram.


Cass (4-17-1, 1-1) travels to Rome Thursday to take on the host Wolves and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.



LADY TIGERS DROP MATCHES WITH GORDON LEE AND ALLATOONA


Adairsville volleyball lost a pair of matches Tuesday night at home falling in Region 6-AAA play to Gordon Lee 25-15 and 25-13. The Tigers then dropped a non-region match to Allatoona 25-10 and 25-20.


Addie Pearson had three kills, three assists, and 12 digs in the Gordon Lee match. Jayna Wilson added a pair of blocks.


Against Allatoona, Jordyn Hartline finished with three kills. Adysen Garvey added four digs.


Adairsville (3-11, 0-1) hosts Rockmart and Gordon Central Thursday.
