Weekend charge earns Brumlow third at the 105th Georgia Amateur Golf Championship

Cartersville’s Bodie Brumlow, 17, started slowly at the 105th Georgia Amateur Championship this past weekend at Ocean Forest Golf Club on Sea Island, but fired under-par rounds on Saturday and Sunday to finish third and complete the tournament at 1-under par.
The Cartersville High School rising senior shot 76 in the opening round last Thursday and carded an even-par 72 on Friday. His weekend charge up the leaderboard included a 71 on Saturday and a final round of 68 on Sunday. He was one of only three players to finish the tournament under par on the challenging par-72, 7,385-yard layout.
Evan Rogers, 19, of Duluth, won the championship by eight shots over 22-year-old Carter Loflin — also of Duluth. Rogers, who plays collegiately at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, recorded rounds of 69-69-72-68. Loflin, who played his college golf at the University of Georgia, finished one shot ahead of Brumlow at 2-under par (72-71-71-72).
The Georgia Amateur Championship field included 144 players who advanced through qualifying at various sites across the state or held exemptions from previous tournament performances. The field was cut to the low 60 players and ties following 36 holes.
R.B. Clyburn and Jake Wehunt, both of Cartersville, earned spots in the tournament field but failed to make the 36-hole cut, which was 10-over par.
