Wildcats blank Christian Heritage at Mountain Classic

The Woodland Wildcats scored runs in the first four innings Wednesday and pitchers Zach Lambert and Connor Stermer combined for 10 strikeouts and a shutout in a 6-0 win over Christian Heritage at the Pickens Mountain Classic in Jasper.
Lambert scattered four hits with no walks through the first six shutout innings. He struck out eight while earning the pitching victory. Stermer allowed one hit in the final inning and fanned two.
Meanwhile, the Woodland bats produced two runs in the first, one run in the second and third frames, and two more in the fourth inning.
Mason Williams (two RBIs), Conner Lujan (RBI), and Ayden Ray had two hits each for the Wildcats. Joshua Hicks (RBI) and Cam Williams added one hit each. Jake Clowers drove in one run.
Christian Heritage falls to 1-3 with the loss.
Woodland (3-2) plays a third game at the Pickens Mountain Classic on Thursday at 3 p.m. against Franklin County.
