Wildcats drop series opener with Blessed Trinity

Back-to-back two-run doubles by Blessed Trinity in the top of the fourth inning broke open a 1-0 game and lifted the Titans to a 5-0 lead Monday on their way to a 6-1 win at Woodland.

The Wildcats' lone run of the game scored in the sixth inning.

Jakiyon Porter singled, stoled second, moved to third on a passed ball and crossed on a Titans’ infield error.

Peyton Posey (4 IP, 5R, 1ER, 7H, 2BB, 5K) started on the mound for Woodland and suffered the pitching loss. Drew Billings (3 IP, 1R, 0ER, 2H, 4K) pitched the final three innings for the Wildcats.

At the plate, Posey finished with two hits. Chase Carson and Ayden Ray along with Porter had one hit each for the Wildcats.

Max Puckett and Ben Hamacher combined for six hits including three doubles and two RBIs for the Titans.

Blessed Trinity improved to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in Region 7-AAAAA. Woodland (5-9, 1-3) travels to Roswell Friday to complete the region, three-game series with a doubleheader at Blessed Trinity.
