Wildcats, Lady Cats lose consolation games

The Woodland girls and boys basketball teams each lost their respective consolation games Monday afternoon at the Adairsville Ace Home Center Christmas Clash hosted by Adairsville High School.

 

TRION 64, WOODLAND BOYS 58


The Woodland boys lost to Trion 64-58 in the seventh place consolation game of the Adairsville Christmas Clash Monday. Trion led 10-4 after one quarter and held a lead at each quarter stop. The Bulldogs were ahead 28-16 at halftime and held a 42-31 advantage through three quarters. The Bulldogs (5-6) had three players in double figures. Rob Brown, Andy Allen, and Austin Mason finished with 20, 14, and 13 points, respectively. K.J. Rogers (photo) paced Woodland with 17 points. Jaden Johnson followed with 15. DiAnthony Heathcock contributed 11. Jamison Lawrence scored nine. Johnathan Thomas had three points and Tyler Thurman added two for the Wildcats. Heathcock was selected to the All-Tournament team. Woodland (2-12) returns to Region 7-AAAAA action at Carrollton Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and travels to Villa Rica Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

LAFAYETTE 50, WOODLAND GIRLS 27

For three quarters, the Lady Cats struggled to get points on the board Monday afternoon in their fifth place game of the Adairsville Christmas Clash. Woodland, who went 1-2 in the event, lost to Lafayette, 50-27.

The Lady Ramblers led 11-4 after eight minutes, were up 24-7 at the intermission, and led 31-13 after three quarters.

Lafayette (9-6) was led in scoring by LaTyah Barber with 14 points and Imani Cook with 13.

Ansley Evans scored eight points for the Lady Cats. Jordan Thompson, Morgan Cooper, and Callie Jones had four each. Abigail Taylor scored three and Lauren Morris added two points. Thompson was named to the All-Tournament team. Woodland (3-10) has Region 7-AAAAA games this weekend at Carrollton Friday at 6 p.m. and at Villa Rica Saturday at 3 p.m.
