Wildcats secure a region win at Southeast Whitfield

The Woodland High School basketball teams split region games on Wednesday night at Southeast Whitfield.
WOODLAND BOYS 62, SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 26

The Woodland Wildcats gained their first Region 7-AAAA win of the season on Wednesday night at Southeast Whitfield, 62-26.
Woodland raced to a 21-4 lead in the first quarter and led 32-13 at halftime. The Wildcats added to their lead in the second half for a 36-point win.
“We got out to a hot start,” said Woodland coach Kip Dyer following the game. “The guys played well, moving the ball and getting others involved.”
Canden Davis led Woodland with 13 points. Caiden Moore followed with 12 and Solomon James added eight for the Widcats.
Tucker Townsend led the Raiders (0-14, 0-6) with eight points.
Woodland (8-9, 1-5) hosts region-leader Cartersville on Friday.
SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 39, WOODLAND GIRLS 15
Dellyn Walston and Betzai Hipolito scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the host Lady Raiders over Woodland on Wednesday night, 39-15.
Southeast Whitfield led 14-8 at halftime and pulled away in the third quarter for a 34-10 advantage.
Navaeh Smith-Ferman led the Lady Cats with six points. Destiny Jackson, who left the game in the third quarter with an injury, added five points.
Southeast improved to 2-12 overall and 1-5 in Region 7-AAAA.
Woodland (3-14, 0-6) hosts Cartersville on Friday.
