Wildcats win opening region series with Dalton

The Woodland Wildcats scored five of their six runs across the final three innings Saturday night to win at Dalton, 6-2.


The victory also secured the series win for Woodland. The Wildcats won Tuesday and Saturday on the road with the Catamounts winning the middle game of the series.


Austin Daves picked up the pitching win by retiring the final eleven outs. He allowed just one, unearned run on one hit and two walks. He struck out six.


Ayden Ray (2.2 IP, 0R, 2H, 5BB, 4K) made the pitching start for Woodland. Zach Lambert (0.2 IP, 1ER, 2H, 1BB) also pitched for the Wildcats.


Connor Stermer had two hits including a double and three RBIs for the Woodland offense. Mason Williams (RBI), Jonathan Ryan, Joshua Hicks, and Ray added one hit.


Dalton falls to 5-7 on the season and 1-2 in Region 7-5A.


Woodland (9-4, 2-1) begins a three-game region series with Cartersville on Tuesday at Richard Bell Field at 5:55 p.m. The Wildcats will host on Thursday and return to Cartersville on Friday.
