Win streak reaches eight as Chargers sweep Monday doubleheader


Georgia Highlands swept a baseball doubleheader at Bryan College JV Monday to extend the Chargers’ win streak to eight games and improve the team’s 2020 record to 21-4. Georgia Highlands won 9-1 and 14-0 in Monday’s sweep. Four Chargers’ pitchers combined on a three-hitter in the 9-1 win and had seven total strikeouts. Ethan Underwood, Hunter Moody, Stevie Szucs, and Dalton Bradford each worked from the bump in the opener. Joe Sutton had three hits including a home run and three RBI. David Smith and Omar Daniels both had two-hit games. The Chargers also stole ten bases in the win with Gavin Harmon and Max Kops swiping three each.


In the second win, Johnny Dow and Jacob Ryan combined to shutout Bryan JV with a one-hitter. They also combined for nine strikeouts. All nine starters in the batting order for GHC had at least one hit. Trace Twardoski and David Smith homered. Sutton had two hits including a double and two RBI to give his a five-hit, five-RBI day.


The Chargers play at Emmanuel College JV Tuesday and will host a doubleheader with Edison CC Saturday at LakePoint.
