Woodland boys tennis wins opening match at Panther Invitational

The Woodland boys tennis team won its opening round match at the Southwest DeKalb Panther Invitational Friday, defeating the hosts 3-2. Ian VanOrder and Mason Tucker won the top two singles lines for the Wildcats while Cayden Wade and Domenic Ciavarro won their doubles line.

VanOrder won 6-2, 6-1. Tucker won 6-3, 6-2, and the Wade/Ciavarro doubles team won 6-2, 7-5.

Woodland forfeited at Line 3 singles with the doubles team of Jack Gore/Javen Bowens dropping their doubles match 4-6, 3-6.

The Wildcats return to action in the tournament Saturday against Tucker.


WESTLAKE 3, WOODLAND GIRLS 2

The Woodland girls lost their opening match at the Panther Invitational Friday night, falling to Westlake 3-2.

The Lady Cats dropped all three singles lines, but won both doubles lines.

Monterya Morrow and Abi Spaulding were 6-2, 6-7, 11-9 winners. Jalyn Womack and Jolie Fannin won 6-2, 6-2.

Woodland returns to action Saturday at the same event.
