Woodland, Cass, and Adairsville harriers compete at the Darlington XC Festival

Woodland, Cass, and Adairsville runners competed Saturday at the Darlington Cross Country Festival in Rome.


The Woodland boys' team placed ninth out of 23 scoring teams, while the Woodland girls placed 11th out of 21 teams.


The boys' race included 211 total runners, while the girls' included 173 competitors.


Woodland’s Juan Mendoza placed fifth overall in 17:14 to lead the Wildcats. Will Parker (33rd, 18:43), James Morris (54th, 19:20), Logan Marr (98th, 20:35), and Conner Cruz (100th, 20:37).


The Cass boys were 18th and led by Sawyer Foy (68th, 19:43). Nicholas Robinson (70th, 19:46), Benny Flores (103rd, 20:38), Adam Brush (117th, 20:58), and David Dorantes-Lopez (163rd, 23:10) rounded out the five scoring runs for the Colonels.


The Adairsville boys did not field a team score but had four individual runners, including Johnathan Ringwell (63rd, 19:30), Canyon East (183rd, 24:15), Charlie Potter (198th, 25:45), Logan Brown (200th, 25:51).


The Woodland girls’ team placed 11th of 21 scoring teams.


Allison Snead of the Lady Cats had the best run of locals for an 11th place finish (21:38) of 173 runners. Miranda Pelow (29th, 23:01), Addison Brown (52nd, 24:03), Sophia St. James (114th, 27:05), and Abby George (117th, 27:10).


Adairsville’s Fernanda Singer finished 89th in 25:45. Charley Doyle (151st, 30:12) and Jimena Perez (154th, 30:23) ran for the Cass girls.


Woodland and Adairsville will run on October 8 at the Ringgold North Georgia Fast Break Challenge. Cass will run at the Atlanta Classic on October 12 in Douglasville, and Adairsville is also scheduled for the Pickens & Grinnin’ Invitational in Jasper on October 11.
