Woodland cross country teams place second, fourth at Pickens and Grinnin'

The Woodland girls and boys cross country teams placed second and fourth, respectively, Saturday at the Pickens and Grinnin’ Invitational in Jasper.


Rylee Evans (19:51.8) led the Lady Cats to a runner-up finish behind Milton High School. She was third overall. Olivia Berry (16th), Emma Segars (17th) Miranda Pelow (32nd), and Danielle Thayer (37th) rounded out the Woodland scoring.


The Woodland boys placed fourth of 39 teams.


Tyler Jones (17:03.8), 7th led the Wildcats with teammate McKinley Chappell (17:09.6, 8th) closely behind. Kain Tanturri (54th), John Forsyth (62nd), Andy Forsyth (70th), and Drew Thayer (71st) rounding out the Woodland scoring.


The Cass boys ran to a 32nd place finish. Critton Gearhart (85th) was the top Colonels’ finisher. Jake Wright (134th), Leonardo Galeana (246th), Andrew Rampey (260th), Abiatar Reyes (266th) were the other Cass finishers.
