Woodland edged in top ten soccer tilt

The Woodland boys soccer team narrowly lost at Dalton on Thursday night, 2-1, in Region 7-5A action.
The Top Ten matchup featured the third-ranked and sixth-ranked teams in the most recent Score Atlanta Class 5A rankings.
Woodland struck first in the game’s 24th minute with a Milo Gonzalez goal set up by a Deiby Sanchez assist. The Catamounts equalized the score in the 39th minute to send the clubs to the intermission tied 1-1.
Dalton (8-3-1, 2-1) took the lead in the 45th minute and the Wildcats were unable to find an equalizer of their own.
Miguel Pineda had 16 saves in net for Woodland to keep the Wildcats close in the contest.
Woodland (7-2, 1-1) plays at 4th-ranked Cass on Tuesday night.
DALTON 4, WOODLAND GIRLS 0
The Lady Cats allowed two goals in the first half and two more in the first ten minutes of the second half Thursday night in a 4-0 loss at Dalton.
The Lady Catamounts improved to 5-3-2 overall and 3-0 in Region 7-5A.
Woodland (5-2, 0-2) plays at Cass next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
