Woodland girls, Cass boys win soccer matchups

The Woodland girls scored five first half goals Tuesday night at Cass and cruised to a 7-0 Region 7-5A win.
Libby Morgan and Reagan Weightman scored two goals each for the Lady Cats. Carlee Forman scored a goal and added two assists. Ansley Burns contributed four assists. Brionna Carver and Maddie Weightman added one goal for Woodland.
The Lady Cats (6-2, 1-2) visit Calhoun on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Cass (3-7, 0-3) hosts Cartersville on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
CASS BOYS 4, WOODLAND 2

The Cass Colonels turned up the pressure in the second half on Tuesday night and defeated visiting Woodland, 4-2, in a Region 7-5A match.
Edgar Abeja scored first for Cass in the 10th minute off an assist from Chris Mederos.
Woodland got an equalizer ten minutes later on a penalty kick by Joel Alberto. The Wildcats then took the lead in the 35th minute when Chris Sanchez scored off a feed from Juan Mendoza.
The first half scoring wasn’t over, however.
Camden Hillhouse scored a Colonels’ equalizer in the 37th minute with an assist going to Melvin Velasquez. The goal sent the two teams to the intermission knotted 2-2.
The Colonels generated multiple chances and scored twice in the second half to pull out the win.
Velasquez got the go ahead goal for Cass on an assist from Abeja and Alex Hernandez scored unassisted in the 68th minute for a 4-2 win.
Woodland keeper Miguel Pineda recorded 17 saves.
The Wildcats (7-3, 1-2) visit Calhoun on Friday night and Cass (9-2-1, 3-0) hosts Cartersville.
