Woodland soccer teams drop non-region battles with Spartans

The Woodland girls' soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss Tuesday night at South Paulding in non-region action.
Woodland keeper Abby Duncan had eight saves in net to help keep the Lady Cats in a scoreless tie at the intermission.
Reagan Weightman gave Woodland a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute off a corner kick but the Lady Spartans scored twice in the half to escape with a hard-fought win.
Peyton Keller played in goal for the Lady Cats in the second half and had six saves.
Woodland (1-5-1, 0-1) returns to region play Friday night at Calhoun (6-3, 2-1). Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The host Spartans scored a pair of first half goals and kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard Tuesday night at South Paulding.
The Spartans improved to 7-3-1 on the season with their non-region victory.
Woodland (3-3-1, 0-1 Region 7-5A) travels to Calhoun for a 7:30 p.m. region start Friday.
