Woodland soccer teams stay unbeaten with wins over Coosa

The Class 5A 5th-ranked Woodland Wildcats improved to 6-0 Wednesday night with a 7-0 home win over the Coosa Eagles.
Emilio Gonzalez, who also had four assists on the night, scored the Wildcats’ first goal in the 13th minute off an assist from Chris Sanchez.
Sanchez followed with goals in the 23rd and 24th minutes to give Woodland a 3-0 lead at the intermission. Joel Alberto assisted on the first Sanchez score and Gonzalez provided the assist on the Wildcats’ third goal.
In the second half, Woodland continued to dominate the Eagles.
Juan Mendoza scored in the 55th minute. Hunter Limbaugh finished a Gonzalez corner kick for a goal in the 65th minute. Sanchez completed his hat trick with a third goal in the 70th minute and Marvin Morales got in the scoring column in the 78th minute with Connor Hernandez credited for the assist.
Woodland keeper Miguel Pineda preserved the shutout with five saves.
The Wildcats begin region play at home on Friday against Cartersville at 7:30 p.m.
WOODLAND GIRLS 10, COOSA 0
The Woodland girls scored nine first-half goals Wednesday night, led 9-0 at the intermission, and closed out their home match with Coosa with a tenth goal in the 66th minute.
Ansley Burns scored five goals. Maddie Weightman contributed three goals and one assist. Reagan Weightman scored one goal with three assists. Libby Morgan totaled one goal with two assists. Carlie Forman, Allie York, and Brionna Carver added one assist each.
The Lady Eagles slipped to 0-4 with the loss.
The Lady Cats (4-0) will host Cartersville on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
