Woodland softball drops first two games at Chattanooga tourney

Woodland softball, playing in the Chattanooga Score Invitational hosted by Gordon Lee at Warner Park, dropped a pair of games Friday night.

The Lady Cats lost to Villa Rica 6-5 and fell to Strong Rock Christian 9-3.

Michiah Hicks hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and had two hits in the loss to Villa Rica. Lainey Baker, Dylynn Motes, and Jessica Ryan added one hit and one RBI each for the Lady Cats. Cassie Jones, Alana Carnes, and Rylee Massingill also added one base hit apiece.

In the loss to Strong Rock Christian, Motes had two hits including a double and one RBI. Hicks also had two hits including a double. Cambrie Carrington and Gretchen Collins contributed one hit and one RBI. Ryan and Peyton Dorn both added one hit each.

Woodland (10-12-2) plays Saturday at 9 a.m. against Hebron Christian Academy.
