Woodland teams drop home games to Southeast Whitfield

The Woodland basketball teams dropped home, non-region games Friday night to Southeast Whitfield. The Lady Cats fell to the visiting Lady Raiders 36-29 and the Raiders topped the Wildcats, 52-45.



SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 36, WOODLAND GIRLS 29


In a game that went back and forth for three and one-half quarters, Southeast Whitfield eased away in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Lady Cats 17-6 for a 36-29 win.

Woodland led at each of the first three quarter stops. The Lady Cats were ahead 19-4 after one quarter, 18-15 at halftime, and 23-19 heading into the final period.


Joanna Ortiz, who scored nine points in the fourth quarter, led the Lady Raiders (3-5) with 13 points.

Megan Schultz paced Woodland with 13 points. Reagan Weightman followed with seven. Morgan Echols contributed six points and Libby Morgan added three for the Lady Cats.


The loss drops the Woodland girls to 1-6 on the season. They host Coosa Saturday in a 4:30 p.m. tip.


SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 52, WOODLAND BOYS 45


The visiting Southeast Whitfield Raiders pulled away in the third quarter Friday night on their way to a 52-45 non-region win at Woodland.

Cal Rich scored a game-high 21 points and Aiden Patterson added nine for Southeast (3-4).

The Raiders led 27-15 at halftime and outscored the Wildcats 19-9 in the third period to build a 46-24 lead.


Brelace Williams led the Wildcats with 16 points. Amir Heath and Zyon Heath followed with eight points each. Isaiah Livsey scored six. David Byars had five points and Jay Walker added two for Woodland.


The Wildcats (1-6) host Coosa Saturday at 6 p.m.
