Woodland teams drop season openers at East Paulding
The Woodland High basketball teams lost their opening games last Friday night at East Paulding with the Lady Cats falling 37-30 and the Wildcats losing 57-42.
The Lady Cats trailed 11-1 at the end of the first quarter and were behind by 15 points at halftime. Woodland trailed by as many as 20 in the third quarter before limiting the host Lady Raiders to just three points over the final 11 minutes of the game.
Reagan Weightman led the Lady Cats with nine points. Megan Schultz and Kasidee Wall followed with seven points apiece.
The Woodland boys trailed East Paulding 11-5 after one quarter and were behind 30-15 at halftime before playing the Raiders even in the second half.
Zyon Heath led three Woodland players in double figures with 13 points. He added six rebounds. Isaiah Livsey and Brelace Williams followed with 12 points and seven boards each.
The Lady Cats (0-1) and Wildcats (0-1) play at Coosa Thursday night with the girls tipping at 6 p.m.
