Woodland tennis teams win one of three at Panther Invitational


The Woodland boys and girls tennis teams both won one of three matches Friday and Saturday at the Southwest DeKalb High School Panther Invitational in Decatur.


The Woodland boys team finished fourth by defeated Southwest DeKalb Friday night before suffering losses to Union Grove and Tucker Saturday.


The Wildcats lost 5-0 to Union Grove and 3-1 to Tucker.


Mason Tucker had the lone Woodland win of the day at Line 2 singles, 6-4, 6-2, against his Tucker opponent.


The Woodland girls finished seventh and were also 1-2 at the Panther Invitational.


The Lady Cats defeated host Southwest DeKalb Saturday 3-0 for their lone tournament win.


Woodland won all three singles lines against the Panthers. Eryn Gentry, Emma Savage, and Abbi Spaulding each won 8-0 to secure the victory.


The Lady Cats lost 5-0 to Wheeler earlier in the day and fell to Westlake Friday night.


The Woodland tennis teams will host region foe Blessed Trinity Tuesday, travel to Cartersville Thursday, and host Adairsville Friday.
