Woodland volleyball begins '26 campaign

The Woodland volleyball team opened its 2026 season on Thursday night at home with a pair of three-set losses. The Wildcats won the opening set over Chattooga 25-15, but fell in the next two sets 16-25 and 2-15. Woodland also won the first set against Pepperell 25-19, before losing the middle set 16-25 and the deciding set 13-15.
In the opener against Chattooga, Dayana Jaimes had seven digs, two aces, and two assists. Ava Lawler contributed nine assists and four digs. Reese Martinak had four kills and five digs, and Aby Childs produced three kills, four digs, and two aces.
Against Pepperell, Jaimes had 10 digs and two aces. Lawler had 10 assists, four digs, and one ace. Emily Guin totaled four kills, six digs, and four aces.
The Lady Cats (0-2) visit Gordon Central on Tuesday to face the Warriors and a rematch with Chattooga.
