Woodland volleyball tops Cass, falls to Kell


Woodland volleyball dropped a non-region match with Kell Tuesday night at Cass High School, but defeated the Colonels in the nightcap in three sets. In the 25-16 and 25-11 loss to Kell, Emmalee Cigainero had three aces and nine digs. Sydney Molinaro finished with five kills and one ace. Cayley Stantz totaled four assists and three digs. The Wildcats dropped the opening set to Cass 25-18, but won the next two sets 25-20 and 15-7 to win the region matchup. Molinaro had 14 kills, eight assists, and seven digs. Delaney Tuplin contributed six kills and a pair of digs. Stantz finished with ten assists and two aces. Cigainero added seven digs and an ace. Woodland (5-14, 1-4) plays at Pope Wednesday night where the Wildcats will also face Osborne. They then host Sonoraville and Riverwood Thursday evening. In the other match of the evening, Kell swept Cass in straight sets 25-7 and 25-12. Cass (1-15, 0-3) plays in an invitational tournament at Rockmart Saturday and will close out its region schedule next Tuesday at Calhoun where the Colonels will also face Blessed Trinity.
