Woodland wrestlers win Region 7AAAAA traditional tourney; Cass runner-up
The Woodland High School wrestling team had all fourteen wrestlers finish in the top three places of their respective weight divisions Saturday as the Wildcats won the 2020 Region 7AAAAA Traditional Tournament at Carrollton. Woodland had six first place winners, six region runners-up, and a pair of third place winners. Cass, competing at the same region tournament, finished second with four weight division champions and three competitors to finish second. Two other Colonels placed fourth. Woodland finished with 270.5 team points. Cass was next with 153. Carrollton (140.5), Kell (123), and Hiram (116) rounded out the top five teams. The State Sectionals will be next weekend at Alexander High School and the GHSA State Traditional Championship Tournament begins Thursday, February 13 at the Macon Centreplex.
