ECA Eagles, Lady Eagles fall at Temple

The Excel Christian Academy Eagles lost a non-region road game at Temple Saturday, 69-37 and the Lady Eagles lost a close one, 35-30.

The Lady Eagles trailed 7-2 after one quarter and 12-7 at halftime. The Lady Tigers maintained a 22-18 lead after three quarters.

Brighton McCollum scored 14 to lead the Lady Eagles. Xena Enos scored 7 points. Kalli Beth Scheff contributed five points, followed by Riley Boston with three and Lidsey Maulding with one point.

The Excel girls dropped to 2-3 with the loss and Temple improved to 2-2. Peyton Applegate with 19 points and Javin Boles with 17 led the Temple Tigers in the boys' game.

Darius Thrower scored 16 to lead Excel. Latrel Jones also reached double figures with 11. Ryan Pickens and Caleb West had four each for the Eagles and Chris Hale added two. The Eagles slipped to 3-2 on the year. Temple improved to 4-1.

Excel plays at Hebron Christian Tuesday (Dec. 8), hosts Trion Friday (Dec. 11), and faces St. Anne-Pacelli on Saturday (Dec. 12).
