Canes edged in holiday tourney finale'


Playing their seventh game over a two week stretch, the Cartersville boys' basketball team suffered back-to-back losses for the only time this season.

Woodstock outscored Cartersville 15-6 in the final quarter Wednesday night to defeat the Canes 59-50 in both teams’ final game of the Pickens Holiday Classic in Jasper.


Cade Archer notched 16 points to lead Cartersville’s scoring. Jaylon Pugh and Kobie Whitfield followed with 10 points each. Kameron Whitfield added eight.


Tyreke Johnson scored 25 points to lead the Wolverines.


Cartersville (7-3) returns to action Tuesday (Jan. 5) with a home game against Heritage-Catoosa, before traveling to Southeast Whitfield Friday and Cass on Saturday.
