Local HS girls roundup: Excel and Woodland suffer narrow defeats


DALTON GIRLS 53, WOODLAND 47


Dalton led 13-8 after one period and 23-19 at the intermission. The Lady Catamounts pushed their lead to 40-28 after three quarters. Woodland outscored Dalton by six in the final period, but could get no closer.


Gabby Bradley paced Woodland with 19 points.


Dalton is now 5-9 overall and 1-4 in region play. Woodland fell to 4-12 for the season and 0-5 in Region 7AAAAA.


The Lady Wildcats visit River Ridge Tuesday in a 6pm start.



NORTH COBB CHRISTIAN GIRLS 37, EXCEL CHRISTIAN 35


Excel narrowed a six point halftime deficit to only one point heading into the fourth quarter, but NCC held off the Lady Eagles for a two-point victory.


Rylie Boston scored 20 points for ECA. Brighton McCollum and Anna Lane Hattaway scored four each; Lindsey Mauldin, Xena Enos, and Whitney Harris tallied two point each; and Kalli Beth Scheff added one.


Excel slipped to 7-7 overall with the loss. The Lady Eagles are now 2-1 in Region 6A.


ECA plays at Adairsville Saturday in a 2:30pm scheduled tipoff.




RINGGOLD GIRLS 67, ADAIRSVILLE 44


Ringgold remained unbeaten in Region 6AAA and is now 13-1 overall after a 23-point home win over the visiting Lady Tigers.


With the loss, Adairsville is now 5-10 overall and 3-6 in region play.


Adairsville will host Excel Christian Academy Saturday at 2:30pm in a non-region matchup before returning to region play Tuesday against North Murray at home in a 6pm start.
