Colts top soccer Tigers, 5-1

The Adairsville Tigers soccer team lost Thursday night at home to Coahulla Creek, 5-1.

Adairsville actually out shot the visiting Colts but failed to cash in on most of the opportunities. The Tigers took 17 shots on goal with Danny Carillo scoring the only Adairsville goal. The game was scoreless at the intermission. "Coahulla Creek is a good team," noted Abernathy. "We kept in close in the first half with some great defensive play and good ball movement. We just came up a little short against a good team."

Adairsville goalkeepers, B.J. Hardman (8) and Stuart Abernathy (5) combined for 13 saves. Salvador Grimaldo Jr. was credited with a goal saving defensive play as a Tiger defender. "We actually played pretty well," said Adairsvile coach Kelly Abernathy. "The boys fought hard and never gave up. They showed a lot of heart."
