Lady Canes blank Ridgeland; Woodland, Cass fall to sub-region co-leaders


Marissa Mowry scored three goals and Chloe Davis added two as the Cartersville Lady Canes soccer team shutout Ridgeland Friday night.


Paxton Thompson, Madison Putzer, and Courney Rhea scored the other Cartersville goals.


The Lady Canes (9-1 overall, 5-0 in Region 7-AAAA) led 3-0 at the intermission.


Goalkeeper Abby Robinson and the Cartersville defense recorded its seventh shutout.


The Lady Canes travel to Northwest Whitfield next Friday.



SEQUOYAH 6, WOODLAND LADY CATS 1


Sequoyah scored in the opening minute of the game and continued the pressure on the Woodland girls soccer team as the Lady Chiefs won 6-1.


Sequoyah led 5-1 at halftime.


The Lady Cats’ only goal came at the 18:55 mark of the first half by Keri Cagle.


Sequoyah improved to 7-2-1 on the season with their sixth straight win. The Lady Chiefs continue to share the lead in sub-region 7-AAAAA-A with a 4-0 mark.


Woodland (3-6, 1-3) play at Dalton Tuesday, March 22 and at Coosa in a non-region match Friday, March 25.



CREEKVIEW 4, CASS LADY COLONELS 0


The Lady Colonels were shutout at home Friday night by Creekview 4-0.


The visiting Lady Grizzlies improved to 8-1-1 on the season and 4-0 in sub-region 7-AAAAA-A with the win. Creekview and Sequoyah remain unbeaten in the sub-region and play next Tuesday.


Cass (3-7-1, 0-4) plays at Rome next Thursday (March 24) and hosts North Springs Friday (March 25).
