Woodland teams fall to Kell

The visiting Kell Lady Longhorns and Longhorns defeated Woodland Monday night in Region 7AAAAA games.

KELL BOYS 57, WOODLAND 48



The Woodland boys stood toe-to-toe with visiting Kell for most of the night Monday, but the Longhorns pulled away down the stretch of the fourth quarter for a nine-point region win.


Caelon Ball scored 18 points for Kell. Jahwan Smith added 15 for the Longhorns.


Kell improved to 17-5 overall and 11-2 in Region 7AAAAA. The win helped the Longhorns keep pace with 9th-ranked Carrollton for first place in the league. Both teams have two region losses. Cass is currently third with three losses and plays Carrollton Tuesday and Thursday.


Woodland (1-20, 0-14) hosts East Paulding Tuesday and plays at Hiram to close out the regular season Friday night.





KELL GIRLS 47, WOODLAND 27



Visiting Kell topped the Woodland girls Monday night, 47-27.


Lexie Robinson scored six points, while teammates Carli Clymer and Madgie Robinson scored five points each for the Lady Cats in the loss.


Kell led a low scoring first half 17-7 at halftime, but extended that lead to 40-17 after three quarters.


The Lady Longhorns evened their season mark at 11-11 and improved to 6-7 in Region 7AAAAA.


Woodland (1-20, 1-13) hosts East Paulding Tuesday and plays at Hiram Friday. Both games are scheduled for 6pm.
