Benedict receives USCAA honors

Adairsville High School alum and Georgia Northwestern Technical College sophomore basketball player Carrie Benedict was recognized nationally last week as a USCAA Division II Honorable Mention Academic All-American.

The Bobcats’ sophomore was joined in national recognition by Georgia Northwestern teammate Darrius Fugh. Fugh was named a USCAA Division II Honorable Mention All-American.

Benedict was recognized for her 4.0 grade point average while taking 56 hours of classes in Automotive Technology.

Participating with the Lady Bobcats requires a daily commute for the Adairsville resident. She takes her classes in Rome and the basketball program is headquartered in Rossville.

Benedict saw action in 12 games during the 2016-17 season. She averaged 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds.
