Cartersville youth football all-star teams sweep Calhoun

The Cartersville Parks and Recreation Department youth football all-stars made it a clean sweep Saturday in Georgia Parks and Recreation Association (GRPA) District 5 playoff games in Calhoun.

 

8U Cartersville 28 Calhoun 6



Zachary Stiles scored two touchdowns while Jovanni Bautista-Jackson and Pyerston Brigham added one touchdown run each Saturday as the 8U Cartersville youth football all-stars defeated Calhoun 28-6 in the GRPA District 5 playoffs in Calhoun.


Stiles scored on runs from 69- and 2-yards. Jackson scored on a 10-yard run and Brigham’s touchdown scamper was a 20-yarder.


Jorian Bailey and Ian Spencer were identified as defensive standouts for Cartersville.


8U Cartersville plays the Bartow County/Dalton winner next Saturday. Site and time TBA.






10U Cartersville 30, Calhoun 16



Brodie McWhorter tossed a 63-yard touchdown pass to Davis Waddell and added a one-yard touchdown dive as the 10U Cartersville all-stars won Saturday at Calhoun in the GRPA District 5 playoffs.


JaCaiden Leonard had a 51-yard touchdown run and Baylon Long added a 25-yard scoring run for Cartersville.


Landen Heath and Jakevion Porter were recognized for their outstanding defensive efforts.


Cartersville faces the Bartow County/Dalton winner next Saturday. Site and time TBA.






12U Cartersville 28, Calhoun 16


Brelace Williams connected on a pair of touchdown passes to Christian Vera and Christian Lando added an interception return for a touchdown and a 32-yard scoring run as the 12U Cartersville youth football all-stars defeated Calhoun Saturday in the GRPA District 5 playoffs.


The Williams to Vera connection hooked up on scoring plays of 38- and 17-yards.


On defense, Cartersville’s Mckaiden Reece and Christian Wood combined for 19 tackles, including four for loss.


Cartersville plays the Bartow/Dalton winner next Saturday. Site and time TBA.
