Wildcats lose region opener, Tigers drop road game

The Woodland boys basketball team lost its Region 7-AAAAA opener Friday night to the visiting Kell Longhorns, 67-54.

Kell (2-1) led by four at halftime with the Longhorns extending their lead to double figures midway through the third quarter.

Hunter Johnson led Woodland with 16 points. Kenny Jinks added 11 for the Wildcats.

Woodland (1-4) plays at Carrollton Tuesday.

RINGGOLD 56, ADAIRSVILLE 42

In a battle of Tigers, Ringgold improved to 5-0 in a pairing of Region 6-AAA teams.

Adairsville (1-4) hosts Rockmart Saturday and plays at North Murray Tuesday.
