Wildcats snap streak, Tigers edged in tourney semifinals


The Woodland boys basketball team snapped a losing streak Friday in Trion while the Adairsville boys were edged in their tournament at Fannin County High School.

 

WOODLAND BOYS 49, GORDON LEE 39



The Woodland boys snapped a nine-game losing streak and defeated Gordon Lee 49-39 Friday as part of the Trion Invitational at Trion High School.


The Wildcats led 11-9 after one quarter and 21-16 at halftime. They pushed their advantage to 38-27 after three quarters.


Hunter Johnson led Woodland with 15 points followed by Jaylen Ballard with eight and Justice Carter with six points. Charles Norman and Connor Gallagher added five points apiece.


Jacob Dyer led the Gordon Lee with 10 points. Hayden Murphy scored eight for the Trojans.


Woodland (2-9) plays at Cass Tuesday night. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.





CHRISTIAN HERITAGE BOYS 59, ADAIRSVILLE 58



The Adairsville boys were edged by Christian Heritage 59-58 Friday in a semifinal game of the Mountain Top Tournament in Blue Ridge.


The loss ended the Tigers' win streak at four games.


Adairsville led 29-28 at halftime, but Christian Heritage (12-0) took a six point lead heading into the final period.


Cody Henderson scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Tigers. Hunter Hice scored 10 points, followed by Mason Boswell with eight and Ethan Belcher with seven points. Savaun Henderson, Malachi Gardner, and Grayson Dailey each added three points for Adairsville.


Christian Koneman led the Lions with 19 points. Sam Dindoffer and Zach Gentry followed with 15 and 14 points, respectively.


Adairsville (5-7) will play in a third place consolation game Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against the Gilmer/Fannin loser.
