Last minute goal tops Colonels; Adairsville drops continued region game


The Cass boys were tough-luck losers Tuesday night in a non-region game at Class 7A North Paulding, 1-0.


The host Wolfpack (12-3) scored in the game’s final minute to spoil the Colonels’ road trip.


Cass keeper Isai Romero was credited with a dozen saves in the loss, including several spectacular plays according to Colonels’ assistant coach E.J. Kukoly.


The loss drops the Colonels to 4-10 for the year.

The Adairsville boys also suffered a 12-2 loss in the completion of a game that was suspended March 14 and completed Tuesday night. The win by the Colts keep them one game ahead of Murray County and Calhoun in the race for the Region 6-AAA title. Adairsville captain Joseph Pacheco scored both goals for the Tigers and keeper tyrek Bryant finished with seven saves, but Coahulla Creek ended the game in the 60th minute with a mercy rule goal.


The Tigers slipped to 2-10 on the season and 1-5 in region play. Adairsville travels to Trion Thursday night for a non-region match.
