- Tuesday's soccer roundup: Cartersville and Adairsville teams sweep region opponents, Lady Cats win
March 25, 2026 LADY TIGERS COMPLETE UNBEATEN REGION SLATE The Adairsville Lady Tigers put on an offensive masterclass Tuesday night, rolling past the host Ridgeland Lady Panthers 9-0 at Ridgeland High School in Rossville. Adairsville wasted little time getting started, with Ella Edwards netting the opening goal in just the 4th minute off an assist from Alivia Joslin. The Tigers kept the pressure on throughout the first half, as Alexa Damer exploded for four goals. Damer struck in the 15th minute (assist: Braylynn Martin), the 19th and 20th minutes (both assisted by Addi Jerauld), and again in the 31st minute off a Ridgeland defensive goal kick. Alivia Joslin added another tally in the 36th minute (assist: Addi Jerauld), giving Adairsville a commanding 6-0 lead at halftime. The onslaught continued in the second half. Just three minutes into the half, Joslin scored again in the 42nd minute with an assist from Damer. Seconds later, Edwards tallied her second goal of the night off her own assist. Damer capped off her remarkable performance with her fifth goal in the 48th minute, assisted once more by Braylynn Martin. Adairsville head coach Dave Sexauer praised his team’s attacking depth after the match. “Alexa Damer had a great night offensively with 5 goals and 1 assist, as well as creating and taking advantage of passing lanes,” Sexauer said. “She created great opportunities for herself and others.” Sexauer also singled out Addi Jerauld, who earned the game ball for her standout performance. “Addi Jerauld showed her range laterally on the field which helped create passing lanes,” the coach noted. “She had a good sense of where to flow on the field to receive the ball and lay it off for an attacking mid or striker. She showed off her close-in foot skills, her physicality, and played very unselfishly.” The victory improved the Lady Tigers to 11-1 overall, and a perfect 6-0 in Region 7-AAA play. Adairsville had already clinched the region championship with a win over Heritage last week. Adairsville will now turn its attention to a non-region home contest against Allatoona on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. TIGERS PICK UP FIRST SOCCER WIN The Adairsville Tigers picked up their first victory of the season Tuesday night, edging the host Ridgeland Panthers 2-1 at Ridgeland High School in a Region 7-AAA boys’ soccer match. Sky Moore gave the Tigers the early lead 15 minutes into the first half with a goal assisted by Greg Munoz. Ridgeland answered before halftime to make the score 1-1 at the break. Adairsville’s Angel Hernandez delivered the game-winner in the 70th minute, securing the 2-1 result. Tigers goalkeeper Josiah Upshaw faced heavy pressure throughout the contest and responded with an outstanding 20-save performance to preserve the victory. Adairsville head coach John Terrell was proud of his young squad after the win. “Tonight was our second strong performance in a row in region play,” Terrell said. “This is a young team with only three seniors that began the season with limited soccer game experience, while playing a difficult schedule. Our goal is to finish this season strong to hopefully build for next year.” The win improved the Tigers to 1-10 overall, and 1-5 in Region 7-AAA play. Adairsville will now return home for its next match on Thursday against Bowdon. LADY CANES DELIVER SHUTOUT OF HORNETS The Cartersville Lady Canes delivered a complete team performance Tuesday night at Weinman Stadium, blanking the visiting Hiram Lady Hornets 6-0 and showcasing both explosive offense and rock-solid defense. The Purple Hurricanes jumped on Hiram early, with Mallory Nicklas opening the scoring in the 5th minute off a crisp assist from Mary Beth Hackney. Lundyn Eubanks made it 2-0 moments later with a composed follow-up finish after the Hiram keeper ventured off her line. Nicklas then added her second goal of the night just before halftime, giving Cartersville a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the break. The onslaught continued after intermission as the Lady Canes kept their foot on the gas. Ali Evans, Helen Leaming, and Lundyn Eubanks (her second of the match) each found the back of the net to round out the 6-0 final. While the attack stole the spotlight, Cartersville’s defense was equally impressive. The Hurricanes’ back line, anchored by center backs Layla Morgan and Sophia Mayorga, completely neutralized Hiram’s offense throughout the night. When the Lady Hornets finally created a late-second-half threat, freshman goalkeeper Madelyn Cooper rose to the occasion with a brilliant, high-pressure save to preserve the shutout. Cartersville head coach Mary Beth Popham was pleased with the balanced effort. “A complete team performance from start to finish,” Popham said. The Lady Canes now prepare for their final region match of the season as they travel to Woodland High School on Friday.
