Hughes takes on new role, vacates head football coach position at Cass High
Cass High School head football coach Bobby Hughes has taken a new position created within the school's athletic department, becoming athletic coordinator as well as head of strength, conditioning, and nutrition. He leaves the role of head coach after six seasons leading the Colonels' program. His team was 4-6 in 2019 and he accumulated a 19-41 mark at Cass during his tenure.
Hughes joined the Cass football staff as a defensive coordinator under former head coach Rick Casko before taking over as head coach in 2014. The Colonels were 5-5 that season and 6-4 in 2015.
Hughes held head coaching positions at two prior stops. He won a pair of region titles and was 42-17 in five seasons at Macon County. He was also head coach at Howard High School in Macon for three seasons. The search will now begin for a new head football coach at Cass.
