The Cass Lady Colonels stretched their current win streak to 13 games Thursday night and won their fourth consecutive Adairsville Christmas Clash with a 58-36 championship game victory over Region 7-AAAAA rival Blessed Trinity. Cass led 23-15 at the intermission and continued to extend their lead in the second half for an eventual 18-point win. Tournament MVP Claire Davis had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Colonels. Haley Johnson, who was named to the All-Tournament Team also accumulated a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Miya Winston led Cass in scoring with 16 points in the finals. She also added eight steals and four assists to receive All Tournament Team honors. Kiana McDaniel was the fourth Cass player named to the All-Tournament Team. She had six points, four steals, and three assists in the win over the Titans (4-8). Justice Bennett finished with seven points for Cass. Zion Hayes contributed four points with Keara McDaniel and Amaya Ford adding two and one, respectively. The Lady Colonels (14-1, ranked 7th in Class 5A) begin region play Tuesday, January 11 at Cartersville. CHATTOOGA 59, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 57 T.J. Printup, Jr. scored a game-high 24 points for the host Tigers but Adairsville came up a bucket short, 59-57, to Chattooga in the championship game of the 2021 Christmas Clash. The visiting Indians got to the free throw line 19 times in the second half converting on 10 shots while Adairsville was only 1-for-2 at the charity stripe in the second half. Both Adairsville shots were awarded to Printup following made baskets. The free throw story was just the opposite in the first half where the Tigers were 6 of 15 from the line and the Indians were 4-for-6. Chattooga led 17-6 after the opening eight minutes before Adairsville narrowed the margin to 27-24 by halftime. The Indians led by four, 40-36, at the beginning of the fourth quarter and held on for a two-point victory. The Tigers converted six three-pointers in the second half to threaten down the stretch. In addition to Printup, Adairsville got 12 points from Hayden Poarch and 10 from Tre Winters. Chattooga had four players reach double digit scoring. Trey Smith and Xaviar Gray finished with 15 points each for the Indians (8-4). Jaylon Johnson scored 14 and Damien Smith added 12. Adairsville (7-4) returns to Region 6-AAA play Tuesday night at home against Murray County. CALHOUN 83, CARTERSVILLE BOYS 61 Cartersville trailed by only one point at halftime Thursday night, but Calhoun outscored the Canes 25-18 in the third quarter and extended the lead further in the fourth quarter for an 83-61 win in the Adairsville Christmas Clash boys third place game. Peyton Law finished with a game-high 26 points to lead the Yellow Jackets. Jaylan Harris added 17 for Calhoun (6-4). Romo Pace led the Hurricanes with 21 points. Kam Callahan contributed 18 points and Luke Gambill had 11. Cartersville (6-4) has a non-region home game against Cedartown Saturday, January 8 before hosting Cass the following Tuesday to open Region 7-AAAAA play. ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 59, PARKVIEW 51 The Lady Tigers trailed for most of three and a half quarters Thursday afternoon in the Christmas Clash 5th place game, but Adairsville outscored Class 7A Parkview 23-9 in the fourth quarter to escape with a 59-51 win. Haley Stiles led Adairsville with 16 points. Alissa Winters contributed nine and Naxyria Roberts added eight points for the Tigers. Jada Weathersby had 22 points to pace the Panthers. Jaden Cooper added ten for Parkview (7-8). Adairsville (9-3) returns to Region 6-AAA action Tuesday night when the Lady Tigers host Murray County at 6 p.m. EXCEL CHRISTIAN ACADEMY BOYS 70, DALTON ACADEMY 29 Elijah Payne had a triple-double Thursday afternoon for Excel as the Eagles salvaged a win at the Adairsville Christmas Clash defeating Dalton Academy 70-29 in the tournament’s 7th place game. Payne finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 blocked shots to lead ECA. Jakaden Barkley scored 19 points with eight assists while Jacob Taylor and Comari Nettles added 16 points each. The Pumas remained winless in 12 games so far this season. Excel (7-4) begins Region 7-A Private play Friday, January 7 at 7th-ranked Christian Heritage in Dalton. ARMUCHEE 42, WOODLAND GIRLS 22 Woodland managed just 11 points in each half Thursday morning and lost to Armuchee 42-22 in the 7th place game of the Adairsville Christmas Clash. Armuchee (4-10) was led in scoring by Jaslyn Edwards with 15 points. Abigail Taylor led the Lady Cats with nine points. Woodland hosts Unity Christian of Rome Friday January 7. ALLATOONA 60, CASS BOYS 45 The Allatoona Buccaneers reeled off an 11-0 run at the start of Thursday night’s consolation game with Cass at the Campbell Christmas Tournament and the Colonels never recovered in a 15-point loss, 60-45. Blake McAllister led the Bucs (7-4) with 13 points and Cayden Charles added 12. The loss dropped the Colonels to 6-7 on the season. They are scheduled to host Roswell Saturday, January 8 at 6 p.m. before starting region play at Cartersville the following Tuesday.

Competing with 30 other top high school wrestling programs from a six state collection, the Cass Colonels placed second overall at the 2021 Knockout Christmas Classic in Kissimmee, Florida Monday and Tuesday. Jesuit (Florida) won the prestigious tournament with 208.5 points utilizing competitors in all weight divisions. Cass was runner-up with 157.5 fielding only 11 wrestlers. Lake Gibson (Florida) 138.5, Palmetto Ridge (Florida) 136.5, and South Dade (Florida) 126.5 rounded out the top five teams. Woodland finished just outside the top five with 125.5 points. Charlotte (Florida) 116, Buford (Ga.) 110, Jefferson (Ga.) 108.5, and Thompson (Ala.) finished sixth through tenth. Cole Hunt (120-pounds) and Jake Crapps (126) both went 5-0 to win their respective weight classes. Bryce Kresho (138) won six of seven matches to place third. A.J. Piatt (113) and Tyler McKnight (145) went 5-2 and 6-2, respectively to finish fifth. Cam Walters (152), Kriecg Roe (160), Parker Dunn (182), Tripp Adams (195), and William Buttram (220) also picked up team points for the Colonels. Woodland’s Caleb Henson (152) swept his five bouts to win his bracket and Cole Cochran (160) went 5-1 to earn a runner-up position. Marvin Hernandez (106), William Bishop (126), Carson Bailey (132), Randy Buchanan (138), Zach Wallace (145), Charles Higdon (195), and Beau Jernigan (285) also earned points for the Wildcats. Both teams now begin preparations for the Region 7-AAAAA Duals Championship at Cass on Saturday, January 8.

The Adairsville boys used an 18-10 fourth quarter Wednesday night to defeat Cartersville in the semifinals of the 2021 Christmas Clash and earned a 61-56 victory over their in-county rivals. Cartersville (6-3) led at each of the first three quarter stops: 17-15, 29-26, and 46-43 before the Tigers’ rallied over the final eight minutes. T.J. Printup and Hayden Poarch led the Tigers’ offense with 29 and 20 points, respectively. Tre Winters chipped in with five. Zac Postell scored four and Tre Mitchell added three points for Adairsville. Kam Callahan led Cartersville with 19 points. Romo Pace followed with 17. Jaeden Scott, Luke Gambill, and Chaz Henderson contributed six points each. Monty Tolbert added two for the Hurricanes. Cartersville will now face Region 7-5A rival Calhoun (5-4) in Thursday’s 3rd place game at 5:30 p.m. Adairsville (6-3) advances to the Christmas Clash championship game Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. against Chattooga (7-4). CASS GIRLS 56, CALHOUN 52 The Cass girls outlasted Calhoun Wednesday night 56-52 in the Adairsville Christmas Clash semifinals, but the two Region 7-5A rivals set the tone for what should be an interesting battle over the next month and a half for the region title. Calhoun (9-3) led for much of the first three quarters with the two teams exchanging the lead several times. Cass made a late run in the first quarter to seize a 17-15 advantage after eight minutes, but Calhoun led at the break 27-24. The Lady Colonels regained the lead at the end of the third quarter 40-38 and held on down the stretch for a four-point victory. Claire Davis scored a game-high 26 points to lead Cass. Mikaela Jackson scored eight. Miya Winston finished six points (8 rebounds, 6 assists). Keara McDaniel followed with five. Haley Johnson (11 rebounds, 4 assists) and Zion Hayes scored four points apiece. Amaya Ford added three for the Class 5A 7th-ranked Colonels. Britiya Curtis led the Yellow Jackets with 23 points. Lauren Watson and Sa’Niah Dorsey added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Calhoun will play in Thursday’s Christmas Clash third place game against Chattooga at 4 p.m. Cass (13-1) will play another Region 7-5A rival, Blessed Trinity, in the tournament’s championship game Thursday night at 7 p.m. It will be the Lady Colonels’ fourth consecutive trip to the tournament’s finals. Cass is the three-time defending champion. ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 47, WOODLAND 27 The Adairsville Lady Tigers bounced back from their opening round overtime loss to Blessed Trinity with a solid victory Wednesday afternoon over county rival Woodland in the Christmas Clash consolation round, 47-27. Adairsville (8-3) led all the way building a 14-3 advantage after the opening eight minutes, 27-14 at halftime, and 41-17 through three quarters. Alissa Winters and Aliya McBride paced the Lady Tigers with nine points each. McBride scored all of her points in the second half. Haley Stiles scored eight for Adairsville with Ya’Torrean Hale adding seven and Autumn Henderson six. Abigail Taylor scored seven points for the Lady Cats. Megan Schultz added five for Woodland (2-10). Woodland will play in Thursday’s 7th place game at 10 a.m. against Morgan County. Adairsville squares off with Parkview for 5th place at 1 p.m. CASS BOYS 58, CAMBRIDGE 51 The Colonels made several key fourth quarter stops and converted their defensive efforts into points Wednesday night to hold off the Cambridge Bears for a 58-51 consolation round win at the Campbell Holiday Tournament in Cobb County. “The guys bounced back tonight,” said Cass head coach Byron Taylor. “The loss to North Cobb last night was tough. We felt like we missed a few opportunities to win that one.” Cambridge led 19-10 after one quarter and pushed ahead 27-17 by the intermission. Cass narrowed the Bears’ lead to 45-43 by the end of the third quarter and rallied over the final eight minutes to pull out the win. Sacovie White led the Colonels with 20 points. Jelani Hames followed with 13. Jackson Hale and Ethan McIntyre both contributed eight points. Jayden Foster chipped in with four. Devin Henderson and Jashaun Brown-Whatley scored two each while Kaden Baldwin added one point for Cass. Owen Satterfield led Cambridge (3-9) with 14 points. Zane Moore added nine for the Bears. Cass (6-6) wraps up the Campbell Tournament Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. against Allatoona. HEBRON CHRISTIAN 59, EXCEL CHRISTIAN BOYS 43 The Excel Christian Academy boys suffered some cold second half shooting in a 59-43 consolation round loss Wednesday afternoon to Hebron Christian Academy. The Lions out of Dacula improved to 5-9 on the season with their win and will play Johnson-Gainesville Thursday for 5th place in the Adairsville Christmas Clash. Excel had three players score in double digits. Jakaden Barkley finished with 14 points while Elijah Payne and Comari Nettles added 10 each for the Eagles. ECA (6-4) will try to bounce back in Thursday’s 7th place game at 11:30 a.m. against winless Dalton Academy (0-11). SAVANNAH CHRISTIAN 59, WOODLAND BOYS 52 (overtime) In what turns out to be their final game at the Dalton Carpet Capital Classic Wednesday night, the Woodland boys went to overtime with Savannah Christian but fell in the extra session, 59-52. Woodland led 15-13 after one quarter and 39-33 at halftime before trailing 47-41 heading into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats outscored the Raiders 11-5 in the final eight minutes of regulation to send the game into overtime knotted at 52-all. Savannah Christian (4-6) was led in scoring by Dalton Bunch with 14 points. Thomas Davidson followed with 13 and Peyton Cromwell added 12. Jayden Hames paced Woodland with 17 points. Brelace Williams scored 11. Kyler Williams posted nine and Harlin Morris, who scored the Wildcats’ only two points of the overtime period, added eight. Due to a team dropping out of the tournament due to Covid circumstances, the Wildcats will not get a third game at the tournament hosted by Christian Heritage. The Wildcats (4-6) will return to action Thursday, January 6 when they host the Allatoona Buccaneers at 7 p.m.

The Cartersville boys won in blowout fashion Tuesday to open play in the 2021 Adairsville High School Christmas Clash. Meanwhile the Excel Christian Academy boys and Woodland girls suffered losses in their first round games also at Adairsville. At the Campbell Christmas Tournament in Cobb County, the Cass boys suffered a five-point loss to North Cobb. CARTERSVILLE BOYS 95, DALTON ACADEMY 20 at Adairsville Christmas Clash The Cartersville boys overpowered Dalton Academy Tuesday afternoon 95-20 to advance to the semifinals of the Adairsville Christmas Clash. The Canes led 31-5 after one quarter and 65-12 at halftime on their way to a 75-point win. Eleven Cartersville players reached the scoring column led by Kam Callahan with 15 and Romo Pace with 13 points. Kedrick Chatmon and Luke Gambill scored nine each. Jaeden Scott, Chandler Mathison, and Jamauri Brice contributed eight each. D.J. Cain and Monterrius Tolbert finished with seven points each. Chaz Henderson scored six and Cedric McClinic added five for the Hurricanes. Dalton Academy fell to 0-10 with the loss. Cartersville (6-2) will play Adairsville Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. The Tigers were 71-35 winners over Johnson-Gainesville Tuesday night. CALHOUN 91, EXCEL CHRISTIAN BOYS 53 at Adairsville Christmas Clash Calhoun used full court pressure and pulled away early from Excel Christian in a 91-53 first round win Tuesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets led 28-10 after one quarter; 47-26 at the intermission; and 75-35 through three quarters on their way to a 38-point victory. Peyton Law led Calhoun (5-3) with 20 points. Brooks Crawford added 17 for the Yellow Jackets. Jakaden Barkley led Excel with 19 points. Jacob Taylor scored 18 and Elijah Payne finished with 14 for the Eagles. Excel (6-3) plays a consolation game Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. against Hebron Christian. CHATTOOGA 52, WOODLAND GIRLS 41 at Adairsville Christmas Clash The Lady Cats trailed by only two points at halftime, 25-23, but Chattooga eased away in the second half for a 52-41 win Tuesday afternoon. Makiya Parish paced the Lady Indians (7-7) with 20 points. Abigail Taylor also scored 20 points for Woodland while Reagan Weightman and Megan Schultz added seven apiece. Woodland (2-9) plays Wednesday at 1 p.m. in a consolation game against Adairsville. The Lady Tigers lost Tuesday to Blessed Trinity 58-51 in overtime. NORTH COBB 53, CASS BOYS 48 at Campbell Christmas Tournament In a close game that saw the two teams exchange the lead several times, North Cobb pulled away in the final minutes for a 53-48 win over Cass. The Colonels led 25-19 at halftime, but trailed 37-36 heading into the final eight minutes. North Cobb (3-8) was led in scoring by Ben Hall with 16 points. Sacovie White and Jayden Foster led Cass with 17 and 12 points, respectively. Cass (5-6) plays again Wednesday against either Campbell or Cambridge. CHRISTIAN HERITAGE 71, WOODLAND BOYS 49 at Carpet Capital Classic The Woodland boys were unable to hang with host Christian Heritage in the opening round of the Carpet Capital Christmas Classic Tuesday in Dalton. Following an early 9-9 tie, the Lions closed the first quarter on a 9-0 run and built a 37-13 advantage by the half en route to an eventual 22-point win. Brelace Williams led the Wildcats (4-5) with 17 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter.

The Adairsville Tigers took an early 20-9 first quarter lead and kept the pressure on the visiting Johnson-Gainesville Knights for a 71-35 first round win Tuesday night at the Adairsville Christmas Clash. The Tigers led 37-20 at halftime and extended their lead to 56-28 by the end of the third quarter as they kept Johnson (0-10) winless on the season. Hayden Poarch paced Adairsville with 15 points. T.J. Printup followed with 13. Tre Mitchell scored 10. Zac Postell contributed seven points while Zach Weaver, Xavious Nalls, and Kavi Harris added six points each. Jake Shaw and Alex Flores scored six points each for the Knights. Johnson will play a consolation game Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. against Dalton Academy. Adairsville (6-3) advances to Wednesday night’s semifinal round at 8:30 p.m. against Cartersville. BLESSED TRINITY 58, ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 51 (overtime) The Adairsville girls took Class 5A Blessed Trinity to an overtime session Tuesday night, but came up just short in a 58-51 first round loss. Blessed Trinity led 12-7 after one quarter and 28-19 at halftime before the Lady Tigers rallied back into contention in the second half. Adairsville trailed 34-32 after three quarters and sent the game into overtime tied at 48-all. Christa Lair led the Lady Titans with 18 points. Evie Bilson and Julia Geis added 10 points each for Blessed Trinity. Haley Stiles and Ya’Torrean Hale led Adairsville with 16 and 11 points, respectively. Blessed Trinity (3-7) advances to Wednesday’s Christmas Clash semifinals to face Chattooga at 7 p.m. Adairsville (7-3) will play a consolation game Wednesday at 1 p.m. against Woodland.

The Cass Lady Colonels overcame a sluggish start Tuesday morning with a strong defensive second half to win their eleventh straight game and their opening round game of the Adairsville Christmas Clash. Cass led by only three points at halftime (21-18) after a poor shooting first half, but outscored Class 7A Parkview 29-10 in the second half for a 50-28 first round win. The Lady Colonels, currently ranked 7th in Class 5A, did not have a player to reach double figure scoring although eight different players contributed. Miya Winston led the scoring with nine points while the trio of Haley Johnson, Claire Davis, and Kiana McDaniel followed with eight points each. Johnson added seven rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals to her scoring effort. Davis grabbed ten rebounds and Kiana McDaniel finished with four steals. Amaya Ford and Keara McDaniel both scored six points. Keara McDaniel added four steals. Justice Bennett and Tamira Feanny rounded out the Cass scoring sheet with three and two points, respectively. Parkview (6-7) was led by Paulina Casanova with six points and Jaden Cooper with five, but neither scored in the second half. Cass (12-1) advances to Wednesday’s semifinal round at 4 p.m. against region 7-5A rival Calhoun. The Yellow Jackets beat Morgan County in the first round Tuesday afternoon 49-33.

The Cartersville High School co-ed riflery team opened its competitive season Thursday, December 16 with a non-area loss to North Paulding, but established several personal bests and a new team high score in the contest. North Paulding won the match 1019 to 995 over a youthful Cartersville team. All of the Canes’ competitors were ninth and tenth graders. Freshman Katerina Conley had the Canes’ top gun score for the night, scoring 254-6. She was followed by sophomore Kaleb Wolfe (253-5), freshman Luis Rangel (249-5), and sophomore Sheyenne Nelson (249-2). Conley’s score was a personal record and the second highest in the competition. The scores by Rangel and Nelson were also personal bests. Freshmen Jaxon Bagley (240-0) and Caleb Adams (239-3), along with sophomore Taylor Buchanan (213-1) rounded out the Hurricanes’ scores. The Canes’ rifles will be in action again on January 6 at Cherokee High School in their opening Area 10 match of the season.

Cass wrestling went 5-0 at the South Forsyth High School War Eagles Duals this week and Adairsville finished 3-1 at the North Forsyth High School Duals. Cass had wins over Etowah, South Fosyth, Roswell, Woodland (B), and North Paulding. The Colonels had eleven individuals to go unbeaten on the day led by a 5-0 performance by Kriecg Roe at 160 pounds. Other Cass wrestlers without a loss included: Zach McKnight (170), Jake Crapps (126), and Tyler McKnight (145) at 4-0 on the day. Bryce Kresho (138) was 3-0. Angel Castenada (120), Eli Doolittle (152), and A.J. Piatt (113) finished 2-0. Parker Dunn (195), Cole Hunt (120), and Richard Martin (138) each had one win without a loss. At North Forsyth, Adairsville’s Jaxson Owens, Jacob Pasley, and Luke Story finished the day undefeated as the Tigers defeated White County, Lamar County, and Union County.

The Adairsville Tigers came up just short Wednesday night at Calhoun falling to the host Yellow Jackets 66-62 in non-region action, In a game where neither team pulled away, Adairsville led 17-15 after one quarter. The two teams were tied at 34-all at halftime and Calhoun took a 47-46 lead into the final eight minutes. Peyton Law led Calhoun (4-3) with 20 points. Jaylan Harris finished with 15 and Emaree Winston scored 11 for the Yellow Jackets. T.J. Printup scored 19 points to lead the Tigers. Hayden Poarch also reached double figures with 15. Tre Mitchell (9), Tre Winter (8), Jordan Carson (7), and Zac Postell (4) rounded out the Adairsville score sheet. The Tigers (5-3) will look to snap their three game skid next Tuesday when they host Johnson-Gainesville in the first round of the Adairsville Christmas Clash.

The Cass girls basketball team, ranked No. 8 in Class 5A, ran its current win streak to 10 consecutive games Tuesday with an easy 77-23 win at Cedartown. Amaya Ford led Cass in scoring with 21 points with nine other Lady Colonels finding the scoring column. Miya Winston scored nine. Haley Johnson, Keara McDaniel, Olivia Woods, and Kiana McDaniel followed with eight each. Mikaela Jackson finished with six. Tamira Feanny scored four. Claire Davis added three points and Reese Howard finished with two. Cedartown slipped to 2-4 on the season with the loss. Cass (11-1) opens the Adairsville High School Christmas Clash next Tuesday at 10 a.m. against Class 7A Parkview.

The firing of Urban Meyer led to a much better performance from Cartersville High standout Trevor Lawrence, but the Jacksonville Jaguars still saw their losing streak extend to six games. After throwing a career-worst four interceptions in a loss Dec. 12 at Tennessee, Lawrence didn't toss a pick at all Sunday. However, Jacksonville dropped a 30-16 decision to Houston at home. Meyer saw his first year in the NFL come to an end after 13 games when he was fired last week. Lawrence's passer rating was 73.4 Sunday — a marked improvement over the 35.5 he posted the previous game. The Jaguars, who are in line to receive the No. 1 overall pick for the second straight season, close out the year against the Jets, the Patriots and the Colts. PRO FOOTBALL Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars; Rookie season; Cartersville HS) — Lawrence finished with 231 total yards in a 30-16 loss Sunday at home to Tennessee. The rookie quarterback completed 22 of 38 passes for 210 yards, while adding 21 yards on the ground. Over his past seven games, the former national champion has just one touchdown pass. Next up for Lawrence is a trip to New York to face a Jets franchise that until the final weeks of the 2020 season looked destined to earn the No. 1 pick that Jacksonville ultimately used to select the two-time state champ. COLLEGE FOOTBALL Jordan Ferguson (Middle Tennessee State R-Jr., Cartersville HS) — Ferguson recorded three tackles and a 4-yard sack in a 31-24 victory over Toledo in the Bahamas Bowl. On the season, the Cartersville High graduate totaled 58 tackles (30 solo), 17.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks. Ferguson forced three fumbles and recovered two. PRO BASKETBALL Ashton Hagans (Raptors 905, NBA G League; Cartersville native) — Raptors 905 fell twice to College Park, dropping road games Tuesday and Thursday. Hagans started both games. He finished Tuesday's 118-108 defeat with 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal in 24 minutes. During Thursday's 120-104 loss, he posted five points, three boards and two assists. COLLEGE BASKETBALL Justice Hayes (South Georgia Tech So., Cass HS) — Hayes came off the bench to score five points, pull down three rebounds and record one steal in 15 minutes of a 69-60 home win over Chattahoochee Valley CC last Wednesday. DiAnthony Heathcock (Columbia International University, So., Woodland HS) — Heathcock started a pair of games last week at Warner University. CIU fell 94-78 to the hosts Thursday before beating Florida National 70-62 the following day. The former Wildcat totaled 16 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Jaylon Pugh (Furman University Sr., Cartersville HS) — In a pair of losses to major conference foes North Carolina (74-61 last Tuesday) and Mississippi State (69-66 Friday), Pugh played a total of three minutes, pulling down one rebound and posting one steal. SWIMMING Harper Powell (Florida Tech Fr., Adairsville HS) — Powell placed second in the 50-yard freestyle and also helped Florida Tech's 200 free relay team finish runner-up in a dual Saturday at Lynn University. Powell also competed individually in the 100 free, placing seventh, and on the Panthers' B team for the 200 medley relay, placing fourth. WRESTLING Jahvar Lewis (Midway University Jr., Woodland HS) — Lewis dropped his lone match at 133 pounds during the NAIA Challenge Duals at Lindsey Wilson. Overall, Midway finished 3-2 in the event, defeating Texas Wesleyan (29-18), Bluefield (57-0) and West Virginia Tech (51-4). Jabril Williams (Midway University Fr., Cartersville HS) — Williams matched Midway's results in the event, emerging with three wins and two defeats. After starting the season 5-0, the Adairsville boys have now dropped two straight games following Monday night’s non-region, home loss to the Model Blue Devils. Model raced to a 23-8 lead in the first quarter and the host Tigers were never able to recover. The Blue Devils led 38-17 at halftime and 52-41 at the end of the third quarter on their way to a 14-point win. Dane Fisher (17 points), Tamarius Heard (14 points), and Jeremias Heard (13 points) led the scoring attack for Model (6-2). T.J. Printup scored a game-high 26 points to pace the Tigers. Tre Winters followed with 12 points. Zac Postell and Hayden Poarch scored five each. Zach Weaver and Tre Mitchell contributed four each while Jordan Carson rounded out the Adairsville scoring with one point. Adairsville (5-2) plays another non-region game Wednesday at Calhoun at 4:30 p.m.
