MASON BARNETT — MLB Athletics (5th-year pro; Auburn; Cartersville HS) … was recalled to the Athletics on June 2 from the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators. The 25-year-old made a four-inning relief appearance last Friday and allowed no runs on one hit and two walks as the A’s fell on the road at the Houston Astros, 5-1. Barnett struck out seven across the fifth through eighth innings. It was the right-hand pitcher’s second MLB appearance this season. The Athletics began this week with a 31-34 record and in third place in the American League West.
LOGAN MARTIN — Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants Double-A affiliate; 4th-year pro; Kentucky; Cartersville HS) … was placed on the 7-day injured list for Richmond on May 30. It is the third trip to the injured list for the 24-year-old right-hand pitcher this season. He has made nine appearances for the Squirrels in 2026. Richmond started this week with a 37-19 record, leading the Eastern League Southwest Division.
ANTHONY SEIGLER — Boston Red Sox (MLB; 9th-year pro; Cartersville HS) … was recalled from the Worcester Woo Sox on June 3 and appeared in a home game against the Baltimore Orioles last Thursday as a pinch-hitter and stayed in the game to play second base. This past Sunday, he started at second base in a road game against the New York Yankees. He was 1-for-3 in plate appearances in his two appearances, including a double and one walk. The Red Sox began the week with a 27-36 record and in the cellar of the American League East.
COLLEGE BASEBALL

ANDREW PURDY — University of Alabama (Fr., Cartersville HS) … did not appear in the Tuscaloosa Super Regional, but the Crimson Tide advanced to the College World Series by defeating St. John’s University. Alabama joins Oklahoma, Georgia, and Texas in an All-SEC half of the MCWS bracket in Omaha. The other four-team, double-elimination bracket includes North Carolina, Ole Miss, West Virginia, and Troy.
