Adairsville’s Vic Beasley, Jr., has said Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller of the Denver Broncos is a player he has “looked up to” since coming out of his own college playing days at Clemson.
Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons’ second-year pro moved into a tie with Miller for the NFL lead in sacks after a tremendous performance on the road against the Los Angeles Rams.
Beasley recorded three sacks in the Falcons’ 42-14 win giving him 13.5 for the season. He also added a league-leading sixth forced fumble and this time recovered and returned the loose ball 21-yards for a touchdown. The NFL record for forced fumbles in a season is ten.
Beasley has now accumulated 34 tackles and two passes defended for the year as the Falcons maintained their division lead.
Atlanta (8-5) is tied with Tampa Bay in the NFC South, but holds the current tie-breaker over the Bucs. The Falcons host the San Francisco 49ers Sunday at 4:05pm in the Georgia Dome and have regular season games remaining at the Carolina Panthers Saturday, December 24 and at home vs. the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, January 1.
