Tigers, Lady Tigers drop final games at holiday tourneys

The Adairsville boys basketball team lost to Sequoyah 76-58 in the Tigers’ final game at the Dalton Thanksgiving Tournament Wednesday evening.


Sequoyah held a 17-12 lead after one period and was up 29-24 at the intermission. The Chiefs extended their lead to 58-47 after three quarters on their way to an 18-point win.


Myles McGee led all scorers with 22 points for Sequoyah (1-2). Jackson Greco and Arthur Parker totaled 14 each. Donovan Shipp added 10 for the Chiefs.


Hunter Hice led Adairsville with 18 points. Cody Henderson scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half for the Tigers. Ethan Belcher finished with 10 points. Savaun Henderson posted five points. Grayson Dailey and Jessie O’Kelley scored four points each. Carson Jones and Malachi Gardner added two points each.


Adairsville (1-3) plays at Ringgold Friday, December 1 and hosts Rockmart on Saturday, December 2.




MODEL GIRLS 63, ADAIRSVILLE 27


The Adairsville girls lost their final game at the Northwest Whitfield Thanksgiving Tournament Wednesday, falling to Class AA 4th-ranked Model 63-27.


Model (3-1) led at all quarter stops, 14-7 after one quarter, 25-11 at halftime, and 44-17 after three quarters.


Victoria Sexton led Model with a game-high 32 points.


Chezne McConnell led the Lady Tigers with six points. Nakiyah Washington, Jileyah Mitchell, and Alexa Varner each scored four points. Havyn Isaac contributed three points, while Zay Harris and Josie Summerville added two points apiece.


Adairsville (0-3) plays at Ringgold Friday, December 1 and hosts Rockmart on Saturday, December 2.
