The Adairsville baseball team took a huge step toward possibly hosting an opening round state playoff series Tuesday night with a 12-2 five-inning, mercy-rule win at Bremen.

The win by the Tigers has them tied with Calhoun for second place in the region standings, but still only one game ahead of both Bremen and Haralson County with two region games remaining.

Garrett Mishoe came up big on the mound in the Tigers’ win. Adairsville’s offense scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and Mishoe responded with a five-inning complete game and allowed only three hits and four walks. He also struck out ten. Bremen’s only runs came on a first inning two-run homer by Sam Thompson that made the score 7-2.

Adairsville added single runs in the second inning and the third inning. The Tigers also posted three runs in the fourth inning.

Adairsville out hit the Blue Devils eight to three.

Caden Gibbs was the only Tiger with two hits. He also drove in two runs. Mishoe and Halen Huskins both homered. Corey Nation, Noah Dutton (double), Trace Still, and BJ Roper each added one hit.

With Tuesday’s loss, Bremen slips to 17-9 overall and 10-6 in Region 6-AAA games.
