Youth football Panthers host playoff triple-header this Saturday


Three Bartow County Panthers teams will be in action this Saturday at Woodland High School in the Northwest Georgia Youth Football League playoffs. The 9U Panthers are the top-seed in their playoffs, while the 10U and 12U Panthers will open the playoffs at No. 2-seeds.


The playoff triple-header begins at 11 a.m. Saturday.



10U BARTOW COUNTY PANTHERS 47, ACWORTH WARRIORS ORANGE 12


The 10U Bartow County Panthers wrapped up their regular season Saturday with a convincing 47-12 win over Acworth Warriors Orange. ​​ The 10U Panthers had six different players score touchdowns and two others scored extra points in the convincing win.


Demarcus Ballenger, Grayson Warmack, Jake Orton, Micah Pittman, and Ayden Noland all had touchdown runs for the Panthers. Warmack added a pick six interception return for a score and the defense opened the scoring with a safety. Lawson Weeks and Eli Simmons converted extra point runs.


The 10U Bartow County Panthers finished the regular season with an 8-1 record and will host Acworth Warriors Blue this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Woodland High School in the opening round of the Division 2 playoffs.





12U DOUGLASVILLE TIGER CUBS 13, BARTOW COUNTY PANTHERS 0


The 12U Bartow County Panthers were shutout for the first time all season and lost to the visiting Douglasville Tiger Cubs for the second time this past Saturday as the two Northwest Georgia Youth Football League teams settled the regular season title at Cunningham Stadium. The Tiger Cubs scored on a pair of big plays in the first half and kept the Bartow County offense off the scoreboard. Douglasville scored on a long pass play and a long run, but otherwise was limited to 155 total yards (98 rushing, 57 passing). The Panthers rushing game was held to only 63 yards and quarterback Brodie McWhorter finished 7 of 15 for 49 yards with one interception. Jacob Ellis led the running backs with 35 yards on six carries. Keve Porter caught four passes for 33 yards.


Ellis led the Bartow defense with six tackles. Jachai Delgado and Baylon Long had 4.5 each. Kelson Mitchell made four stops. Logan Shrewsbury finished with 3.5 tackles. Bear McWhorter had three tackles. Isaiah Livsey contributed two tackles. Cooper Moon, Bryce Wilson, Brodie McWhorter, and Porter added one stop each.

The 12U Bartow County Panthers finished the NWGYFL regular season with a 6-2 mark and will host the Winston Knights Saturday at Woodland High School in the league playoffs with a 3 p.m. kickoff.



9U BARTOW COUNTY PANTHERS OPEN PLAYOFFS AS TOP SEED


The top seeded 9U Bartow County Panthers will host the Ross Longhorns Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Woodland High School as they begin the NWGYFL playoffs. The 9U Panthers (8-0) defeated Ross 29-7 back in September during regular season play. The Panthers had a first round bye in the playoffs. Ross won its playoff opener this past Saturday over the Bill Arp Falcons, 20-0.
