Canes take over region lead; Colonels lose at East Paulding

Cartersville took over sole possession of first place in Region 5-AAAA Friday night with a 6-2 win at Sandy Creek. The win over the Patriots, coupled with a Troup loss to Cedartown, means the Canes now have a one-game lead in the region standings over the Tigers. Canes’ starting pitcher, Logan Martin, improved to 6-0 with a ten strikeout performance. Gage Morris struck out the only batter he faced to finish up the sixth inning, and J.P. Martin fanned one in a scoreless seventh.
