Cartersville High baseball alumni made an impact on the pro and college diamonds during the week, with Mason Barnett earning his third pitching win for Triple-A Las Vegas, Anthony Seigler homering twice to raise his season average to .300 for the Triple-A Worcester WooSox, and Caleb Daniel providing strong contributions for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at the NCAA Tournament.

MASON BARNETT — Las Vegas Aviators (MLB Athletics Triple-A affiliate; 5th-year pro; Auburn; Cartersville HS) … improved his season record to 3-1 last Thursday with a six-inning start and an Aviators’ 5-4 win in his ninth start of the year at the Tacoma Rainiers. Barnette allowed two earned runs on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts. He has 41 strikeouts in 42-2/3 innings with a 4.64 ERA. Las Vegas won all six games at Tacoma last week to climb to one game behind Sacramento in the Pacific Coast League West. The Aviators (32-23) welcome the Reno Aces for six games this week through Sunday.

LOGAN MARTIN — Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants Double-A affiliate; 4th-year pro; Kentucky; Cartersville HS) … made a relief appearance of 1-1/3 innings last Friday at the Akron RubberDucks, allowing three earned runs on two hits and three walks. He recorded one strikeout. Richmond rallied late for a 4-3 win in extra innings. Martin has appeared in nine games (five starts) and has a 2-0 record. The 24-year-old has 31 strikeouts in 29.1 innings with a 3.99 ERA. The Flying Squirrels (34-16) began the week with a 34-16 record and a 6-1/2 game lead over Harrisburg and Akron in the Eastern League Southwest Division.

ANTHONY SEIGLER — Worcester Woo Sox (Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate; 9th-year pro; Cartersville HS) … made five starts last week in a series at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and went 8-for-16 at the plate, including two home runs, one double, five walks, and six RBI. Seigler batted .344 in May and lifted his season batting average to .300 with three homers and 21 RBI in 100 official at-bats. Worcester won four of six games last week at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and began this week with a 27-27 record. The Woo Sox host six games through Sunday with the Buffalo Bisons.

CALEB DANIEL — Georgia Tech (So., Cartersville HS) … hit a go-ahead home run in the top of the fifth inning on Monday that gave the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 lead at the time, and drove in another run in the sixth with an RBI single. However, Oklahoma rallied to tie the game, and the Sooners won 8-7 in the tenth inning to eliminate Georgia Tech in Game 7 of the Atlanta Regional of the NCAA Division I Baseball Championships. Daniel went 2-for-4 as the Tech designated hitter in Game 7 and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in games against Illinois-Chicago and Oklahoma earlier in the tournament. He appeared in 50 games and made 33 starts in 2026, posting a .298 batting average in 131 official at-bats. He had 10 home runs and 29 RBIs. Georgia Tech was ranked in the top three for most of the season and finished the year with an Atlantic Coast Conference title and a 50-11 record.

MICAH EARWOOD — Southeastern University (Sr., Cartersville HS) … made a two-inning relief appearance for The Fire against Tennessee Wesleyan University on May 29 in an 8-5 loss at the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho. Earwood allowed two unearned runs on three hits with two strikeouts across the sixth and seventh innings. The right-hander finished 2026 with a 3-0 record in 18 relief appearances and had two saves. He had an ERA of 0.86 in 21 innings pitched with 34 strikeouts. He was also a Sun Conference All-Academic selection and a NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athlete. Southeastern finished 2-2 at the World Series with wins over Johnson University (TN) and Indiana University Southeast before losing to William Carey University (MS) and Tennessee Wesleyan in the double-elimination tournament. The Fire finished 45-18.
