Cartersville tops local schools in the 2025-26 GADA Directors Cup final standings

The Georgia Athletic Directors Association has released its final Directors Cup standings for the 2025-26 school year, with Cartersville leading the local schools in the Class AAAA race.
Cartersville was the highest ranking school in Region 7-AAAA and finished seventh overall in Class AAAA. Woodland finished 32nd, and Cass was 34th in the classification. Adairsville was not ranked in Class AAA as a non-GADA member.
Marist won the overall Directors Cup in Class AAAA with 1,369 points. The War Eagles also won each gender title with 715 points for the boys and 654 for the girls. Cambridge and North Oconee tied for second place, with Westminster and Pace Academy rounding out the top five schools.
The Cartersville girls’ programs scored 604 points and were eighth in Class AAAA. The Cartersville boys’ teams scored 508 points for a seventh-place finish. The Woodland girls were 24th with 180 points, and the Cass girls were 39th with 50 points. The Cass boys’ programs finished 24th with 179 points, while Woodland’s boys teams earned 100 points for 36th place.
Cartersville had three state championship teams in 2025-26, including Competition Cheerleading, Boys Golf, and Boys Track and Field. Four Cartersville teams earned third-place finishes, including Volleyball, Girls Basketball, Baseball, and Gameday Cheer. Canes football and Fast Pitch Softball finished fifth. Girls’ Golf had an eighth-place finish. Boys Soccer and Girls Tennis finished in ninth place.
Other Cartersville teams earning Directors Cup points were Girls Cross Country (11th), Boys Basketball, Girls Soccer, and Boys Tennis (17th place), Boys Cross Country and Boys Swimming (19th place), and Boys Wrestling (29th place).
Cartersville won back-to-back Directors Cup titles in Class AA in 2000-01 and 2001-02.
Woodland placed third in Region 7-AAAA behind Cartersville and Cedartown. The Wildcats’ programs earning Directors Cup points were Boys Wrestling (state championship), Competition Cheerleading (9th), Girls Cross Country and Girls Soccer (17th), Girls Swimming (22nd), and Girls Track and Field (26th).
Cass was fifth in Region 7-AAAA, earning state runner-up points in Boys Wrestling to go with Football (9th place), Fast Pitch Softball and Girls Basketball (17th), and Boys Track and Field (19th).
Jefferson won Class AAA, followed by Greater Atlanta Christian, Oconee County, North Hall, and West Laurens.
The Directors Cup champions for the other classifications were Buford (6A), Pope (5A), Columbus (2A), Wesleyan (A-DI), and Lake Oconee Academy (A-DII).
The Directors Cup has annually awarded the top-performing overall athletic programs in each classification since the 1999-2000 school year, and has identified the top male and top female programs in each classification since 2002-2003.
Teams earn points in the Directors Cup standings based on their GHSA final state playoff placement, with points awarded to the top-scoring girls teams in eight sports and the top-scoring boys teams in eight sports.
