The Cartersville Lady Canes’ softball team won a pair of one-run games Friday night and Saturday as they hosted the 2025 Canes Classic.

Cartersville edged North Cobb Christian on Friday evening, 4-3, and outlasted Sonoraville on Saturday in nine innings, 3-2.

The Lady Canes scored four runs in the bottom of the second against North Cobb Christian for a 4-0 lead, and pitchers Presley Crabbe (6.1 IP, 3R, 2ER, 6H, 1BB, 7K) and Zoie Shiflett (0.2 IP, 0R, 0H, 0BB) made those runs hold up. The Eagles narrowed the margin to 4-1 in the top of the fourth inning and added two runs in the sixth, but could not catch Cartersville.

Shiflett had two hits and one RBI on offense. Emilee Brinson (double, two RBI), LaKiaya Banks (RBI), Taryn Bradley (double), Kinsey Woodard, Sam Porter, and Addi Burns had one hit each.

On Saturday against Sonoraville, the Phoenix led 2-0 through five innings before the Lady Canes caught them in the bottom of the sixth via a two-run home run by Shiflett.

Neither team scored again until Kennedy Crenshaw scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth. Crenshaw started the frame at second base in the tie-breaker rule. Sophia Harper was intentionally walked and Crenshaw moved to third on a single by Porter.

Porter had three hits, including one double against the Phoenix. Shiflett (home run, two RBI), Crenshaw, Woodard, and Banks had the other Cartersville hits.

Cartersville (8-1, 3-1) returns to Region 7-4A play Monday at Cedartown at 6:30 p.m. and will host Dalton on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
