  • Woodland swimming leads local teams at Northwest Georgia Invitational

    January 18, 2026 Woodland finished ninth of 20 participating schools in the combined team scores on Saturday at the Northwest Georgia Swimming and Diving Invitational hosted by Calhoun. The host Yellow Jackets won the meet with 739 points. Blessed Trinity (563) and Pace Academy (476) finished second and third, respectively. Woodland scored 186 points, while Adairsville was tenth (157) and Cass was 12th (70). The Woodland girls were seventh with the Cass girls, and the Adairsville boys finished in ninth place. Top performances for local swimmers: Third Place Andrew Harris, Adairsville, 100-yard butterfly, 58.01 Fifth Place Anniston Ducket, Cass, 100-yard butterfly, 1:04.96 (GHSA state meet qualifying time) Joel McSwain, Woodland, 500-yard freestyle, 5:59.42 Eli Burke, Adairsville, 100-yard backstroke, 1:03.43 Krishma Acharya, Cass, 500-yard freestyle, 7:02.91 Seventh Place Woodland girls’ 200-yard medley relay team: Madysen Grano, Peighton Young, Emily Guin, and Kailyn Black, 2:10.45 Calvin Konen, Adairsville, 500-yard freestyle, 6:09.83 Anniston Duckett, Cass, 100-yard backstroke, 1:12.89 Eighth Place Addie Bell, Adairsville, 100-yard breaststroke, 1:23.83 Adairsville will participate in the Region 7-AAA Championships on Tuesday at Calhoun. The Tigers will host the Paw Power Meet on Saturday and the Adairsville Last Chance Meet on January 26. Cass will host Pickens and Gilmer on Tuesday at the Adairsville facility. The Colonels will also face Cartersville on January 27. Woodland will face Cartersville on Thursday at the Adairsville pool, and will compete in the Paw Power and Last Chance Meets at Adairsville on Saturday and January 26.

  • Class 4A Dual State Tournament: Woodland, Cass reach semifinals

    January 16, 2025 The Woodland and Cass wrestling teams each won their first-round and state quarterfinal matches on Friday at the Class 4A Dual State Tournament at Ola High School in McDonough. Woodland cruised past Pace Academy in the opening round 78-3, while Cass topped Drew 42-35. In the state quarterfinals, Woodland handled Cambridge 60-16, while Cass defeated Central-Carroll 50-27. Woodland will square off with Harris County on Saturday in the state semifinals. Cass will face host Ola. The state championship match will follow on Saturday.

  • Cass basketball teams drop games at North Cobb

    January 17, 2026 The Cass Lady Colonels and Colonels basketball teams lost non-region games on Saturday at Class 6A North Cobb in Acworth. NORTH COBB 55, CASS GIRLS 20 The host Lady Warriors built a 30-11 advantage in the first half and defeated Cass on Saturday, 55-20. Jaidyn Taylor led North Cobb (7-9) with 18 points. London Reyes finished with 15, and Hananiah Bell contributed 10 in the Lady Warriors’ win. Nakayla Evans was the top scorer for the Lady Colonels with nine points. Cass (6-10, 5-2) returns to Region 7-AAAA play next week with road games at Woodland on Tuesday and Southeast Whitfield on Friday. NORTH COBB 68, CASS BOYS 40 North Cobb had four players reach double-digit scoring on Saturday in a 68-40 home win over the Cass Colonels. Jacoby Hardy led the Warriors with 19 points. Jordan Simpson and Julien Dunn each scored 12, and Keyshawn Harris added 10 points for North Cobb (2-14). Lucas Pealor led Cass with 10 points. Ontario Crenshaw added nine. Cass (3-13, 2-5) visits Woodland on Tuesday night and Southeast Whitfield on Friday.

  • Friday’s local basketball: Lady Tigers knock off region-leader, Cartersville teams sweep at Woodland

The Cartersville Lady Canes and Hurricanes secured victories at Woodland. The Cass Lady Colonels defeated Allatoona, and the Adairsville Lady Tigers gave Gilmer their first region loss. CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 54, WOODLAND 12 The fourth-ranked Lady Canes led 26-0 after the opening eight minutes and strolled to a 54-12 win on Friday at Woodland. Kaytlin Arnold scored all 11 of her points in the first half and added four steals and three assists in the Cartersville win. Zoe McCurry also scored 11 points with four assists and three steals. Trinity Montgomery added eight. Reign West finished with eight points for the Lady Cats. Woodland (3-15, 0-7) hosts Cass on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and hosts Hiram on Friday. Cartersville (14-2, 7-0) plays Collins Hill on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. at the Rome MLK Showcase. The Lady Canes travel to Dalton on Tuesday and host Allatoona on Friday. CARTERSVILLE BOYS 90, WOODLAND 57 The Hurricanes built a 43-17 halftime lead and won at Woodland on Friday, 90-57. Kyron McClendon led all scorers with 27 points that included six buckets from behind the arc. McClendon added six assists and four steals. Wyatt Thomason followed with 22 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Nas Bennett contributed 20 points with eight rebounds, and Xavier Lowe added 13 points, three steals, and two assists for Cartersville.  Landon Dougherty led Woodland with 15 points. Jonathan Hart and Caiden Moore each scored  10.  The Wildcats (8-10, 1-6) host Cass on Tuesday and Hiram on Friday. Cartersville (13-3, 7-0) squares off with Section (AL) on Monday at 4 p.m. at the Rome MLK Showcase. The Canes visit Dalton on Tuesday and host Allatoona on Friday. ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 44, GILMER 41 The Lady Tigers handed host Gilmer its first region loss of the season on Friday evening by topping the Lady Bobcats, 44-41. Lily Roberts paced Adairsville with 12 points. Samantha Gough and Savannah Viktora each added 10 as the Lady Tigers won their third straight. Makenna Taylor led Gilmer (11-7, 5-1) with 11 points. Bree Burnett added nine. Adairsville (8-11, 3-4) is currently fifth in the Region 7-3A standings. The Lady Tigers host Heritage-Catoosa on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and travel to Northwest Whitfield on Friday at 7 p.m. CASS GIRLS 50, ALLATOONA 34 The Lady Colonels moved into third place in the Region 7-4A standings with a 50-34 home win Friday over Allatoona. Cass held a 22-19 lead at halftime and led 35-27 through three quarters before pulling away in the final eight minutes. Nakayla Evans scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Lady Colonels. Anizah Taylor contributed 14, and Yvonne Ellison added seven points for Cass. Addie Gray led the Lady Bucs (6-10, 4-3) with 13 points. Cass (6-9, 5-2) hosts North Cobb on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Lady Colonels travel to Woodland on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. tip, and visit Southeast Whitfield on Friday at 7 p.m. ARLINGTON CHRISTIAN 60, EXCEL CHRISTIAN BOYS 55 The Excel Christian Academy boys led 48-41 entering the fourth quarter on Friday in Fairburn, but were outscored 19-7 in the final eight minutes. Tyler Adams and Khalib Brooks led Arlington Christian (10-5) with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Mier Bell poured in 21 points for ECA. Damir McBride added 13 points. Excel Christian (15-5, 4-0) visits Oakwood Christian for a region game on Tuesday and will host Arlington Christian in a rematch on Friday. ALLATOONA 64, CASS BOYS 40 The visiting Buccaneers outscored host Cass 20-9 in the fourth quarter on Friday, pulling away for a 64-40 Region 7-4A win.  Carter Turnbow led Allatoona (11-6, 5-2) with 14 points. Amari Smallwood followed with 12 points, and Griffin Mays added 10. Derrick Sams scored 13 points for the Colonels. Cam’ron Beauford contributed 11. Cass (3-12, 2-5) hosts North Cobb on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The Colonels visit Woodland on Tuesday and make the trip to Southeast Whitfield on Friday. GILMER 81, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 38 The host Bobcats completed a regular-season sweep of the Adairsville boys on Friday in Ellijay, 81-38. Following an 18-18 first quarter, Gilmer opened up a 46-27 advantage by halftime en route to their win. Keegan Bryant led the Bobcats (6-12, 2-4) with 25 points. Preston McVey scored 19 points, and Jaden Sevcech added 17. Eli Pearson led the Tigers with eight points. Drew Nida and Lucas Poarch each added seven. Adairsville (2-17, 1-6) hosts Heritage-Catoosa on Tuesday and travels to Northwest Whitfield on Friday.

WOODLAND BOYS 62, SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 26 The Woodland Wildcats gained their first Region 7-AAAA win of the season on Wednesday night at Southeast Whitfield, 62-26. Woodland raced to a 21-4 lead in the first quarter and led 32-13 at halftime. The Wildcats added to their lead in the second half for a 36-point win. “We got out to a hot start,” said Woodland coach Kip Dyer following the game. “The guys played well, moving the ball and getting others involved.” Canden Davis led Woodland with 13 points. Caiden Moore followed with 12 and Solomon James added eight for the Widcats. Tucker Townsend led the Raiders (0-14, 0-6) with eight points. Woodland (8-9, 1-5) hosts region-leader Cartersville on Friday. SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 39, WOODLAND GIRLS 15 Dellyn Walston and Betzai Hipolito scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the host Lady Raiders over Woodland on Wednesday night, 39-15. Southeast Whitfield led 14-8 at halftime and pulled away in the third quarter for a 34-10 advantage. Navaeh Smith-Ferman led the Lady Cats with six points. Destiny Jackson, who left the game in the third quarter with an injury, added five points. Southeast improved to 2-12 overall and 1-5 in Region 7-AAAA. Woodland (3-14, 0-6) hosts Cartersville on Friday.

  • Cartersville riflery team remains unbeaten; honors seniors

PHOTO: CanesAthletics.com Maggie Sheffield earned Top Gun honors as CHS Rifle moved to 12-0 on the season, defeating Woodstock on Tuesday by an overall score of 1139-1089 while hitting the X 57 times compared to the Wolverines’ 24. Senior Night honored Lucy Evans, Lucas Gibson, and Graham Farrell. Evans will continue next year as a member of Morehead State University’s Rifle team. Gibson has served as the team manager and a shooter and will leave for the Navy upon graduation. Farrell, also on the JROTC sporter team, plans to join the Army after graduation.  Sheffield, a junior, shot 100-8 in prone and 292-14 overall. Evans was on her heels with a perfect 100-10 in prone and a 289-22 score.  Chance Van Pelt finished third for the Canes and fourth overall with 281-11. Bryson Newport scored 277-10, and Emma Daughdrill scored a 274-8. Gibson finished with a personal-best 265-4.  The Canes travel to Ridgeland on Thursday, January 15 for their first match this season on electronic targets.

Additionally, the boys' teams from Excel Christian Academy and Cartersville also achieved wins. CASS GIRLS 50, HIRAM 29 The Lady Colonels took a nice step forward in the race for a top-four seed in the Region 7-AAAA tournament on Tuesday night with a 50-29 road win at Hiram.  The Lady Colonels outscored the Lady Hornets 15-5 in the second quarter to build a 26-15 lead at halftime and added to their lead in the second half. Yvonne Ellison led Cass with 18 points. Nakayla Evans scored 14, and Cadie Paez added 10 for the Cass. Brittani Payne posted 14 points for Hiram (5-9, 3-3). The Cass girls (5-9, 4-2) welcome Allatoona on Friday. ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 47, LAFAYETTE 42 The Lady Tigers had one of their most productive fourth quarters of the season and collected their second Region 7-AAA win on Tuesday night at LaFayette, 47-42. LaFayette led 29-15 at halftime and 38-25 through three quarters before Adairsville rallied from behind, outscoring the Lady Ramblers 22-4 in the final eight minutes. Jaida Harris paced the Lady Tigers with 13 points. Savannah Viktora scored 10. Rihanna Crittenden and Alivia Joslin added nine and eight points, respectively. Ava Kellam led LaFayette with 16 points. The Lady Tigers visit region-foe Gilmer on Friday for a 6 p.m. tip. CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 76, CEDARTOWN 17 Zoe McCurry poured in 23 points with six assists and five rebounds on Tuesday at the Storm Center as the Lady Canes rolled by Cedartown. Kaytlin Arnold added 19 points and three steals in Cartersville’s 76-17 victory. Kenzlei Boozer scored six points for the Lady Bulldogs (4-10, 1-5). Cartersville (13-2, 6-0) makes the short trek to Woodland on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. tip. EXCEL CHRISTIAN BOYS 87, PRAISE ACADEMY 71 The Eagles stayed perfect in region play on Tuesday night with an 87-71 win at Praise Academy in Powder Springs. Excel led 32-13 after one quarter, 50-30 at halftime, and 67-55 at the end of the third period in their win. Mason McKinney led the Eagles with 26 points. Jamari Gatson finished with 12 points, and Damir McBride added 11. Daniel Foote and Caleb Daetayer led Praise Academy with 24 and 22 points, respectively. Brandon Ivey added 15 for the Lions (9-4, 3-2). The Excel boys (15-4, 4-0) travel to Oakwood Christian on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start. Bennett also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career, currently averaging over 16 points per game. Kyron McClendon scored 14 points with nine boards, seven assists, and a pair of steals. Xavier Lowe posted 10 points, and Grayson Warmack added seven rebounds for the Hurricanes. Damon Smith led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Zane Diamond Pasley added 13 for Cedartown (6-9, 2-4). Cartersville (12-3, 6-0) visits Woodland on Friday  LAFAYETTE 69, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 37 The Tigers started slowly on Tuesday at LaFayette and did not recover, falling 69-37 in a Region 7-AAA loss.  The host Ramblers led 15-6 after one quarter and 30-13 at halftime en route to a 32-point win. Bryson Penson led all scorers with 17 points for LaFayette. Brennan Ballard and Tay Ware each added 10 for the Ramblers (11-5, 3-2). Barrett Fuller and Brooks Rutledge each scored 10 points for the Tigers. Eli Pearson added nine. Adairsville (2-16, 1-5) travels to Gilmer on Friday. HIRAM 81, CASS BOYS 45 The host Hornets had four players reach double-digit scoring on Tuesday, overpowering the Cass Colonels 81-45. A.J. Williams led all scorers with 24 points for Hiram. Jordan Smith scored 16. Quin Jackson produced 15 points, and Jayden Gaddis contributed 11 for the Hornets (9-8, 5-1 Region 7-AAAA).  Isaiah Moreno led Cass with 15 points.   • Athletes Beyond Bartow: Remarkable turnaround season ends for Lawrence and the Jaguars

    January 12, 2026 Charles Wilson / BartowSportsZone.com The Jacksonville Jaguars' remarkable season came to a heartbreaking end on Sunday, with a narrow 27-24 home Wild Card playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills. Cartersville High alum Trevor Lawrence passed for three touchdowns, but Jacksonville’s turnaround season came to an end. On the collegiate front, several local alumni from Cartersville, Cass, and Adairsville High Schools delivered standout performances across basketball, wrestling, and gymnastics. NFL TREVOR LAWRENCE — Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL, 5th-year pro; Clemson; Cartersville HS)  … completed 18 of 30 pass attempts for 207 yards and three touchdowns in the Jaguars’ 27-24 home Wild Card Playoff loss this past Sunday to the Buffalo Bills. Lawrence was picked off twice, including a tipped ball interception on Jacksonville’s final possession. He rushed for 31 yards on six attempts. Jacksonville took a 24-20 lead with just over four minutes remaining, but the Bills scored on their next possession to take a three-point lead. Lawrence passed for 4,007 yards during the regular season and completed 61 percent of his throws. The playoff loss ends the Jaguars’ season with a 13-5 record. The season was a remarkable turnaround for Jacksonville who went 4-13 in 2024. BASKETBALL TAFF BRADLEY — Huntingdon College (So., Cartersville HS) … scored three points and made one steal on January 6 in the Lady Hawks’ 66-35 home win over Wesleyan College (GA). Huntingdon (7-7, 4-1 USA South Athletic Conference) hosts LaGrange College on Tuesday and visits Asbury University (KY) on Saturday. NA’YEL CAMPER — Reinhardt University (So., Cartersville HS) … in abbreviated court time, Camper had one rebound in the Eagles’ win at Tennessee Wesleyan University on January 7. She also saw action in a home win last Saturday over Columbia College (SC). GYMNASTICS ABIGAIL BUNCH — Rhode Island College (Sr., Cass HS) … scored a 9.450 on uneven bars and 9.350 on the balance beam on Sunday as the Anchorwomen finished third in a quad meet at Brown University (RI) that also included Southern Connecticut State University and Springfield College (MA). Brown won the meet by 2.300 over SCSU. RIC was third, another 1.400 back. Next for Rhode Island College is a quad-meet on Saturday at SCSU with Springfield and Utica University.

    January 10, 2026 The Adairsville Tigers' wrestling team went 0-2 at their Area 3A Duals Championship on Saturday, falling to LaFayette and Heritage-Catoosa. Adairsville 157-pounder Jarret Chriswell won both of his bouts by pinfall. The Tigers now turn their attention to the traditional format for the remainder of the season with matches at Armuchee on Tuesday and Cedartown on Thursday.

The Adairsville girls defeated visiting Calhoun, and the Excel Christian Academy boys overpowered The Stonehaven School in Marietta. CARTERSVILLE BOYS 87, SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 39 Wyatt Thomason scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the Canes' blowout win at Southeast Whitfield on Friday. PHOTO: FOCUSED ON THE FIELD Wyatt Thomason recorded another double-double, and the Purple Hurricanes won their second-straight on Friday night after dropping two of three at the Adairsville Christmas Clash at the end of December. Thomason finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds in the Canes’ one-sided 87-39 win at Southeast Whitfield. Will Bishop scored 13 points. Brayden King contributed 11, and Nas Bennett added 10 points. Shakai Taylor grabbed a dozen rebounds. The host Raiders fell to 0-13 on the season. Cartersville (11-3, 5-0) will host Cedartown in another Region 7-4A game on Tuesday at the Storm Center. CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 52, SOUTHEAST WHITFIELD 15 The Lady Canes bounced back from a non-region loss on Thursday for a blowout win at Southeast Whitfield on Friday, 52-15. Kaytlin Arnold scored 15 points and added three assists and three steals in the Lady Canes' victory. Zoe McCurry produced 11 points, six steals, and four rebounds. Trinity Montgomery finished with eight points and five boards. The loss dropped Southeast Whitfield to 1-12 overall and 0-5 in Region 7-4A. Third-ranked Cartersville (12-2, 5-0) hosts Cedartown at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. HOLY INNOCENTS 61, CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 35 In girls’ action on Thursday at the Storm Center, visiting Holy Innocents’ built a 17-point lead in the second quarter and outscored the Lady Canes 21-11 in the third for a 26-point win. Kaytlin Arnold scored 15 points to lead Cartersville. Zoe McCurry and Kaelyn Agee each added six. The Lady Golden Bears, ranked No. 3 in the Private 3A-1A classification, improved to 10-5. EXCEL CHRISTIAN BOYS 77, THE STONEHAVEN SCHOOL 26 The Eagles built a 25-2 lead after one quarter on Friday night in Marietta and routed The Stonehaven School 77-26. ECA led 47-14 at halftime and 63-18 through three quarters. Clay Poe scored 15 points for Excel Christian. JJ Hubert and Connor Garland added 14 and 12 points, respectively. The host Knights fell to 0-8 on the season. Excel Christian (14-4, 3-0 GAPPS I-A, Region 1) travels to Powder Springs on Tuesday for a game at Praise Academy. The Eagles will host Fideles Christian of Cumming on Friday at 7:30 p.m. ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 41, CALHOUN 24 The Lady Tigers limited visiting Calhoun to single-digit scoring in all four quarters Friday night to defeat the Lady Jackets, 41-24. Adairsville led 10-9 after one quarter, 22-11 at the intermission, and 24-19 through three quarters en route to a 17-point win. Samantha Gough and Alivia Joslin led Adairsville with nine points. Lily Roberts added eight for the Lady Tigers. Calhoun (2-12, 0-4 Region 7-3A) was paced by Jaylen Johns’ eight points. Adairsville (6-11, 1-4) travels to LaFayette for a region game on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CALHOUN 78, ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 29 The visiting Yellow Jackets raced to a 28-11 lead in the first quarter and led 45-14 at halftime Friday in their 78-29 win at Adairsville. Calhoun improved to 10-1 overall and 4-0 in Region 7-3A. Adairsville (2-15, 1-4) travels to LaFayette for region action on Tuesday night. CEDARTOWN 68, WOODLAND GIRLS 35 The visiting Cedartown girls’ basketball team earned its first Region 7-4A win on Friday night, winning at Woodland 68-35. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in region play. Woodland (3-13, 0-5) visits Southeast Whitfield on Wednesday. CEDARTOWN 67, WOODLAND BOYS 47 The visiting Bulldogs built a big lead early and held on for their fifth-straight win on Friday at Woodland, 67-47. Cedartown (6-8, 2-3) led 27-9 after one quarter and 44-17 at halftime in their Region 7-4A victory. Zane Diamond Pasley and Davion Smith led the Bulldogs with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Landon Dougherty led Woodland with 17 points. Amir Heath tossed in 11, and Caiden Moore added seven for the Wildcats. Woodland (7-9, 0-5) travels to Dalton on Wednesday to face Southeast Whitfield and will host Cartersville on Friday. DALTON 71, CASS GIRLS 20 Ninth-ranked Dalton cruised to a 71-20 home win over Cass on Friday night. Dalton led 25-5 after one quarter, 47-10 at the break, and 61-18 through three quarters. Aubriyana Camp led the Lady Catamounts (10-3, 4-1 Region 7-4A) with 22 points. Georgia Sanders scored 13, and Wisdom Kent added 11 points. Nakayla Evans and Yvonne Ellison each scored six points for Cass. The Lady Colonels (4-9, 3-2) have dropped three straight. They travel to Hiram on Tuesday and host Allatoona on Friday. DALTON 47, CASS BOYS 41 The Colonels lost a low-scoring Region 7-4A tussle at Dalton on Friday night, 47-41. The two teams swapped leads into the final minutes, but the host Catamounts made free throws at the end to secure a six-point win. The game was tied 10-10 after one quarter, and Dalton surged ahead to a 27-17 lead by halftime. Cass rallied in the third quarter to grab a 38-37 lead and held a 35-33 advantage with 2:28 remaining. Dalton took a 43-41 lead on a layup with 1:50 left and was able to knock down free throws at the end to hold off the Colonels. Dalton (9-5, 4-1) was led by Jermichael Craft with 12 points. Cole Laubscher and Aaron Storey added eight for the Catamounts. Isaiah Moreno scored 15 points in the game, and had the only three points that Cass scored in the fourth quarter. Derris Reece and Cam’ron Beauford added nine and seven, respectively, for the Colonels. Cass (3-10, 2-3) has region games at Hiram on Tuesday and at home against Allatoona on Friday.

At Cedartown, the Cass girls rallied from a 21-point deficit for a region win.  CARTERSVILLE GIRLS 50, HIRAM 16 Bayley Stanley scored 14 points and had six steals in the Lady Canes' win at Hiram. The third-ranked Lady Canes overpowered host Hiram Tuesday night, 50-16, to stay unbeaten in Region 7-AAAA. Cartersville led 16-3 after one quarter, 26-5 at the half, and 42-8 through three quarters. Kaytlin Arnold led the Lady Canes with 15 points. Bayley Stanley followed with 14 points and six steals. Jaya Carter scored five points for the Lady Hornets (5-7, 3-1). Cartersville (11-1, 4-0) hosts Holy Innocents on Thursday at 6 p.m. and travels to Southeast Whitfield for their next region game on Friday. CASS GIRLS 64, CEDARTOWN 61 The Lady Colonels overcame a slow first half and surged in the second half Tuesday night to win at Cedartown 64-61. Cass managed only 18 points in the first half and trailed by 21 points at the intermission, 39-18. The Lady Colonels rallied with a 46-point second half to edge Cedartown by three. Cadie Paez poured in 22 points to lead Cass. Nakayla Evans and Yvonne Ellison also reached double figures with 18 and 14 points, respectively. Camille Solomon led Cedartown (3-9, 0-4) with 19 points. Kenzie Boozer scored 15, and Hadlee Robinson added 11 for the Bulldogs. Cass (4-8, 3-1) plays at ninth-ranked Dalton on Friday at 6 p.m. CARTERSVILLE BOYS 74, HIRAM 60 Wyatt Thomason notched a double-double Tuesday at Hiram with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The Canes trailed after three quarters on Tuesday night, but went on a 35-9 run to end the game and won 74-60 at Hiram. The Hornets led 19-14 after one quarter, 37-30 at the intermission, and 55-54 after three quarters. Nas Bennett led Cartersville in the scoring column with 23 points. He added six rebounds. Wyatt Thomason finished with a double-double, scoring 16 points with 12 rebounds and six assists. Kyron McClendon scored all of his 15 points in the second-half surge. Will Bishop grabbed seven rebounds. A.J. Williams led Hiram (7-8, 3-1) with 27 points. Jordan Smith added 12 for the Hornets.  The Hurricanes (10-3, 4-0) travel to Southeast Whitfield on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start. ADAIRSVILLE BOYS 53, RIDGELAND 29 The Tigers grabbed a 15-2 lead in the first quarter and maintained their advantage for a 53-29 region win on Tuesday night at Ridgeland (6-8, 1-3). Drew Nida scored 12 points for Adairsville. The Tigers (2-14, 1-3) host Calhoun on Friday. RIDGELAND 48, ADAIRSVILLE GIRLS 38 The Adairsville girls trailed by ten points at halftime and failed to recover in the second half Tuesday night at Ridgeland, falling 48-38. The host Lady Panthers led 25-15 at halftime and led 35-24 entering the fourth quarter.  Jordyn Thomas led Ridgeland (14-1, 3-1) with 21 points. Jamiah Lewis contributed 12 points for the hosts. Rihanna Crittenden scored 17 points to lead Adairsville. Lily Roberts added 10 for the Lady Tigers. Woodland (3-11, 0-4) hosts Cedartown on Friday at 6 p.m. DALTON 61, WOODLAND BOYS 52 The host Wildcats kept pace with Dalton Tuesday night and challenged in the second half, but fell to the Catamounts 61-52. “We made a run in the second half,” said Woodland coach Kip Dyer. “We just ran out of gas down the stretch, and the turnovers cost us.” Dalton led 32-23 at halftime and 45-35 entering the fourth quarter en route to a nine-point win. Jermichael Craft scored a game-high 30 points to lead the Catamounts (8-5, 3-1). Cole Laubscher contributed 12. Amir Heath led the Wildcats with 18 points. Caiden Moore and Landon Dougherty each added 10. Woodland (7-8, 0-4) hosts Cedartown on Friday in a 7:30 p.m. tip. CEDARTOWN 48, CASS BOYS 42 A poor-shooting third quarter doomed the Colonels Tuesday night in a 48-42 region loss at Cedartown. Cass trailed 23-18 at halftime and was outscored 16-4 in the third quarter. Keenan Price and Zane Diamond Pasley led the Bulldogs (5-8, 1-3) with 14 points each. Colton Prather added 12. Cam’ron Beauford scored 14 points for Cass. Ontario Crenshaw and Derrick Sams each added eight for the Colonels. Cass (3-9, 2-2) visits region-foe Dalton on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. start.
